1st time using a DA [flex xfe 15] on '67 Chevelle and '60 Porsche

I completed paint correction on both my collectors using my new flex xfe-15 ---never used a polisher before .
I tried megs uc and up with lc flats and lc force hybrids 5.5 6.5" ,, tried megs 105& 205 then tried 7" soft buff pads .
I liked the soft buff & 105/205 the best --a little more messy but better results and rotation was real good .
I did use about 7 pads for each compound per car so I now have a lot of pads & Put megs ultimate wax on both after a day topped w/ pinn. souveran on the porsche and pinn ssII on the chevelle.a week later put megs # 26 paste on a few panels to compare could and not tell a diff.
Anyways the "finisher" worked just fine for these cars.

    Awesome looking Chevelle!

Pictures are really difficult for most people on vBulletin style discussion forums. I when to the link, right >clicked< on each of the photos to get the URL code and even then I had to dissect and remove a lot of extra code to get them to display properly.

Also thanks for sharing your feedback about the FLEX Finisher. I never try to remember the part numbers, instead this tool has a "nickname" that is OFFICIAL with the FLEX company. It shows the XFE7-15 to be the "Finisher" in the FLEX catalog.

Here's the store page for this tool on Autogeek.com

FLEX "The Finisher" XFE7-15 Long Stroke Orbital Polisher

It's a 15mm FREE spinning random orbital polisher. I like how smooth it is but prefer gear-driven orbitals for speed. But that's just me.

    Thanks for sharing...

    Thanks Mike !

You can Delete the 2nd post as you were able to upload my photos --

I really liked using the "finisher" really never a problem with rotation ---it did slow down in some curved areas but was always able to move/ angle it to keep rotating and did take about every single swirl out.

I don't know why but the megs 7" soft buff pads maroon/yellow and the 105/205 compounds worked the best !
Those 7" soft buff pads say for rotory use but fit the 6" finisher plate perfect and worked great.

    P.S. The paint is bc/cc from 1994

    Copy that... I always say,

If you spend enough time with ANY tool you can make it dance on paint!

I've had the best luck using the larger, optional 6" backing plate on the FINISHER and then using Lake Country 6.5 Force Hybrid white/polishing and black/finishing pads. The thicker foam and it's MASS seem to help maintain pad rotation via inertia.

    Wow!

That's 27 years in car years!

Most car clubs consider a car an antique after 25 years, some even say after 20 years - so you have some antique bc/cc on that car and it looks marvelous!

Sounds like you mastered the rotation. My friend called in a panic the first time using a DA.... it was “wagging” him around. I went over and grabbed it with one hand and showed how smooth it worked.
    He then mastered the rotation!

    Nice.

    Each one teach one...

There's a member on this forum, his name is Rick, he's a more seasoned detailer. He attended my Texas Roadshow Class back in 2019 and out of all the tools he used in the class he chose the FLEX Cordless Finisher. Then using good technique to maintain pad rotation, the Buff and Shine Uro-Tech pads and Lake Country 6.5" Force Hybrid Pads plus great abrasive technology he remove all the HOLOGRAMS out of his 1967 GTO

Removing swirls out of a 1967 Pontiac GTO by Rick

Upon seeing his work with the FLEX Finisher, another car guy hired him to de-swirl his old 2-door Chevy,

My First Detail Job Other than my own cars! ( Long Post)

Rick's an inspiration to all of us...

Point being, any free spinning random orbital polisher can get the job done, you just need to spend time with the tool and become good with it.
