‘95 Dodge Viper Kiwi Style.
Hello one & all.
So, I was on the phone to my good friend Mike Phillips yesterday morning (late afternoon for him) & I was working on a sweet 1995 Dodge Viper & Mike said how he liked the Viper so I figured I’d share a few pictures.
Although this beast has only travelled a mere 15,000 miles in its 24 years the paintwork didn’t share the engines youth. Lots of swirls & RIDS that were so consistently everywhere that you could hardly say they were “Random”.
Objective - The owner had only purchased this Viper a Month ago & through word of mouth he had heard that I was the one to bring it to to enhance the finish of this middle aged muscle car. Complete correction was advised against as this was going to be used & driven as often as possible. Bravo to that I say!
Our aim was to get around the 75-80% correction mark & all in all we achieved around 80-90%, happy days.
As it arrived -
Prep consisted of half waterless wash & half traditional bucket & water approach. Wheels, Tires, Wheel arches & lower panels were all chemically decontaminated & washes down, whilst the upper body received a waterless wash & mechanical decontamination.
Test spots carried out, paint considered on the medium hardness side (was expecting hard hard paint) & best results consisted of this combo - Flex 3401, Lake Country Blue SDO Pads & 3D ONE. This resulted in a great amount of defects removed but also finished down extremely well. I followed with Orange Lake Country SDO Pads & Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish for further enhancement & Pop!
A couple of Before & After Pictures -
Results are pretty fair & overall in “The Big Picture” a massive improvement.
Buff, polish repeat . . . & coating prep & Installation carried out & some beauty shots taken . . . Oh & even a picture of Aaryn NZ himself in there too I see.
There we have it team, my latest edition to the weird & wonderful cars I see at our little shop in the far South of the Planet, in a little town called Blenheim at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
Thank you all for stopping but &taking a look.

So cool, man! Sweet ride and awesome work as always.
It is no coincidence that man's best friend cannot talk.

Top work mate, and whilst it wasn’t a 100% correction, you’ve jewelled that emerald.
Did mike have any particular advice for the viper paint?

Stunning work, as usual mate. I hope your customer's are paying for not only the highest quality of work BUT ALSO the knowledge to suggest less than 100% full cutting to preserve that 19 year old paint! That, to me, is very very valuable.
And even with your less than full correction it looks incredible. Beautiful work!

Thanks WristyManchego.
Haha, no .... actually apart from mentioning the Viper it was more of a social call but my guess is Mike would’ve suggested a “Test Spot”.

Thanks 2wookies.
It’s a particulate mask to
protect against breathing in dust particles from polishing. Google “Silicosis” & you may understand my reasoning.

Actually Scott, this guy concerned me a little when he dropped it off - he appeared sceptical about the whole thing. I was pleasantly surprised when He & His Wife pulled up to collect it & he actually couldn’t stop smiling . . . Nailed it.
