LSN - 2008 Audi R8 V10: repeat customer

Had the opportunity to do the 6 Month TLC on my customers R8 V10. He came to me six months ago needing some much needed help. Car is completely wrapped in PPF, but there were light scratches, swirls, and bad waters spots. We took care of all the issues and recoated the wrap and wheels with CQ.

It was nice to see the R8 again and to see how our work stood up. We were very pleased and this time was just a TLC job:

Wheels: Griot's HD Wheel cleaner; deep wheel well cleaning (Pinnacle APC 4:1).
Foam Bath: AG Foam Gun, Megs Hyper Wash mixed with CarPro Reset
2BM (Hyper wash, Carpro Reset)
Blow Dry
Heavy coating of CarPro Reload on PPF wrap and wheels and plastics
Exhaust tips: Pinnacle Exhaust Cleaner & LC Scrubber
Ext Glass: Pinnacle Chrystal Vision w/ Water repelant

---- Interior:
Mats - needed some McKeey's degreaser to get the Audi Rings silver again
Carpets: vacuumed Metro Vac
Full interior wipe-down: McKee's FAST Interior Detail
Glass: McKeey's Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner

Awesome. PPF???

I would like to know more on polishing PPF if you get a chance. I've been in couple of situations where I had to declined polishing their PPF's on their cars. Until I get better idea of
how to do this, I'll have to continue to decline further work.

Hey Tom, Sizzle Chest just did a post on a Porsche that had PPF. It can be polished, the gotchas are:
- don't try to get deep scratches out... it will never work
- don't stay on one spot too long and do not do 6-8 section passes... It doesn't disperse heat like sheet metal.
- Use same pads, compound and polish you would on paint, just not wool... I'd would use microfiber either (again - heat).
- Lastly, live with the results you get. If scratches don't come out... so be it. It's cheaper to tell the owner you did all you could and they'll just have to have that section replaced at some point.


Polishing PPF has diminished results. Meaning, it can get light swirls out of it.... Mainly because most quality PPF (like Expel or SunTek) have a coating on them. So if you polish PPF, ensure that you put a ceramic coating back on.
