    Exclamation Clear Coat Problems *PEELING*

    Hey guys,
I was contacted by a customer about his older early 90s that he wanted detailed because he had thoughts of selling it. So I was finally able to check out the car tonight and almost everything looked good except for the peeling clear coat on the hood. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do/they can do. I've never ran into this problem before detailing a car. Every panel on the car was okay. Any help would be fantastic, this red Audi would really pop when finished. Thanks guys

Repaint is the only fix for clear coat failure.

Nothing you can do with the panels that are peeling. Needs a Repaint.

It does need a repaint but you could temporarily make it better with a glaze or non abrassive paint cleanser. After that wax it. It wont be a 100% fix but it will remove the hazines and bring back paint color.

    Here's your picture inserted

There's nothing that's going to make the hood look good except to be repainted. If there's no body work needed to the hood then you could get it repainted for around $300.00 and then the car would look a lot better for resale.

That's the problem with clearcoats, when they fail there's nothing you can do to fix the problem except repaint the panel or repaint the car and for cars like this while the drivetrain may still be good the investment in a repaint isn't worth it to most people. So most people either drive an ugly car or trade it in and the cycle continues.

With single stage paints all you get is oxidation and even a kid can fix oxidation.
