Silver Honda Jazz - Detailed by Lawrence
The objectives for this detail were to:
- Restore the headlights (the OEM coating had failed in a few places, and left a odd 'rainbow looking' defect' in the middle of the light
- Get everything cleaned and decontaminated
- Correct the paint to an acceptable level - it is a daily driver and chasing perfection was not required
- Protect everything.
So onto the detail, which was performed over the long weekend in April...
Headlights
Sand - 500 / 800 / 1000 / 1200 / 2000/ 3000 trizact
Compound - Menzerna FG400 on a rotary with a 3" wool pad, followed by Menzerna FG400 on the Flex 3401 with Orange Hybrid pads
Polish - Flex 3401, Menzerna SF4000 and Black Hybrid pads
Seal - *Un-named*
Left side (as you look at the pic) corrected, right untouched
Before (notice the 'rainbow looking defect')
During

After
The 'rainbow defect' seemed to be in the headlight or right through the plastic - I can't know for sure as I wasn't comfortable with getting any more aggressive than the 500 grit used. That area was primarily where the original OEM 'film' had failed.

Very nice. I actually have a friend who just acquired the same car, called a Fit here in the US in far worse shape than that one. Once she gets it mechanically squared away, I am sure she will be hitting me up to make it pretty

I love clean engine bay! I just do.
And every time someone declares finished with detailing, the first place I check is the emblems. lol
Also a big thank you for listing the chemicals & tools used for each area. Not only informative, but a good showcase for people that might want to try said products.
