Re: Final Step of Machine Wheel Lip Repair

Thank you both! This 3M Ultra Fine pad (available at Home Depot for $3) was definitely the way to go. If I were to do this all over again I'd sand the damage to 3,000 grit then hit it with the ultra...

Re: Final Step of Machine Wheel Lip Repair

Do you happen to know what kind of scotchbrite pads they use? I actually reached out to two mobile wheel guys on IG after seeing their videos using one asking for the specific product and never got a...

Re: Final Step of Machine Wheel Lip Repair

Thank you both! I actually hadn't realized that I "over polished" it, so when I went back over it with the 3000 grit sandpaper it got the sheen to be a lot closer. Still not perfect but much less...

Final Step of Machine Wheel Lip Repair

    Howdy,

For the first time in 8-9 years I sadly curbed one of my wheels and decided to take the plunge and do the repair myself. Using a die grinder, I started off with a 400 grit sand paper and...
  5. Re: Can't get remaining dirt/grime off wheels.

Well when I was power washing, the dark/dirty spots were all over the wheel. But after I washed them, most of the dirty spots came off with the exception of the stuff pictured. I really think its...
  6. Re: Can't get remaining dirt/grime off wheels.

Fantastic! How much will that run me for 4 19"?

All 4 of these wheels were "fixed" at the dealership probably 3 weeks ago...
  7. Can't get remaining dirt/grime off wheels.

Yesterday I posted a thread about pressure washing two of my wheels, and possibly stripping off the finish. Well today I did the other two wheels. I started with a wheel cleaner (spray on, let...
  8. Re: Went a little crazy with the pressure washer on wheels.

It was a 2800 PSI gas pressure washer.

I got a LOT closer than that..... No bueno.

I'm in the same boat. I just bought the car and all the wheels were "fixed" by the dealer shortly...
  9. Re: Went a little crazy with the pressure washer on wheels.

I read that Wurth Silver paint is no longer a "one size fits all" for German wheels?
  10. Re: Went a little crazy with the pressure washer on wheels.

The damage isn't really noticeable enough to warrant spending $100-$150 per wheel to have it professionally repaired. If I can find correct paint, it shouldn't be too difficult to do with an air...
  11. Went a little crazy with the pressure washer on wheels.

    Hello,

I posted this on the Audi forum, but didn't get much of a response. Not sure if it matters, but they are 19" OEM Audi wheels. Yesterday I was pressure washing the inside of my wheels that...
