  1. Re: Wolfgang equivalent to Meguiars Scratch-X 2.0 ?

    I use Wolfgang's Finishing Glaze.
Also WG Paint Works Polish Enhancer for removing old wax.

    And Meguiars Ultimate Polish.

The shellac surface has quite a few scratches, but it's important not...
  2. Wolfgang equivalent to Meguiars Scratch-X 2.0 ?

I have a lot of Wolfgang products for auto detailing. I'm watching a YouTube video on restoring the luster on a vintage Singer sewing machine.

Note that Singer uses SHELLAC, so it's important to...

Re: Flex - first time experience

Thanks for your review and for starting an interesting discussion. I bought a Flex 3401 a few months ago, and despite my initial trepidation (being a small woman with puny arms!) I got along just...

Re: Oops...first mistake... (Flex PE8 slipped)

    Brilliant! doh!

Yes, I can see now that both the front & back bumpers are plastic, and the lower side panels are too (i.e., the one I melted).

I've taped off around both front & back bumpers...

Re: Oops...first mistake... (Flex PE8 slipped)

Thanks for the link. It was great to see him explain the different materials used on different panels and how the heat dissipates on metal more than non-metal.

I noticed he pointed out the same...

Re: Oops...first mistake... (Flex PE8 slipped)

Thank you all for adding the note about paint heat, or "paint twist". I'm searching for the video from AmmoNYC now.

To be honest, I'm not really sure how it happened either as it happened so...

Re: Oops...first mistake... (Flex PE8 slipped)

Thanks all. I'll find a local repair shop and see what they say.

I didn't realize Mazda had soft paint. Part of why I wanted the mini PE8 is that it not only smaller but lighter too. I didn't...

Re: Newbie with Miata in New Mexico

Just an update to my post above (2-12-2015). You don't need to use the Wolfgang Polish Enhancer after using the WG Finishing Glaze, it's "redundant". see info from Nick in this thread...

Re: Please help me find a mini-polisher

Thank you all for the great replies. Since I'm a newbie, I think I'll go with the Flex PE8 kit as it sounds like it will do everything I need for the cars right out of the box and I like the small...

Re: Please help me find a mini-polisher

Thanks all. So for 2" size, the PE8 is it.

Do you think it will work well for the job I'm doing? If I see holograms, what do you do then?

Are there any scrubbing pads that would work for the...

Please help me find a mini-polisher

I just got a Flex 3401 earlier this year. But now that I'm finally polishing my little Miata, I can see quite a few areas I will have trouble polishing with the 5" Hybrid pads (around number plate,...

Re: WG polish enchancer and WG glaze

Thanks Mike for the great info. I read and re-read the Wolfgang product guide but they didn't cover this scenario.

"Following a fine cut polish with a paint cleaner would be redundant. "

    Er,...
  14. Re: Newbie's 3rd Multi-Step Detail: 2012 Alpine White M3

Great info! Sounds like I can skip a step now, and in the future when I'm just maintaining it.
  15. Re: Newbie's 3rd Multi-Step Detail: 2012 Alpine White M3

I was using the Finishing Glaze as a light polish. You can see in the pic how hazy the finish was (water spots and dullness). I don't think the Polish Enhancer would do that, it seems really mild....
  16. Re: Newbie's 3rd Multi-Step Detail: 2012 Alpine White M3

I spent all day using those products, and am really happy with the results.

After claying, used a Flex 3401 + WG Finishing Glaze with a 5" Hybrid white polishing pad, speed 4. (I spritzed the...

Re: Newbie with Miata in New Mexico

Just an update: 10 days later and I've read lots of threads. I'm still finding stuff I needed I buy - like vinyl tape to cover the edges (yesterday) and Iron X to do before the claying (today). I...
  19. Re: Birds Don't Pee Dive Deep....into Bird Poop Some facts I did not know, like don't use Quick Detail Spray to remove Bird Bombs

I was about to add that as a newbie I'm more confused than ever after reading the thread about bird excrement removal.

What is "1:1 IPA" mentioned above? Can't find IPA in the Acronyms threads.

    Re: Maximum wax preservation

Interesting! I'd no idea that waxes dry out (newbie). Is there an advantage to storing wax in the fridge?

  21. Re: Wheel/Tire Cleaner with least environmental concern

Thank you all! Eco Touch Wheel Cleaner looks like a fine choice, and I've bookmarked P21S as well.
