  1. Re: Whats the best way or product to remove soot from smoke damage in a car?

I am facing this problem currently with a smoke damaged 2011 M3 convertible in my collision center. It is BAD. The insurance company is replacing many interior items such as seat covers, etc., and...

    Re: Older cars without clearcoat

Don't be afraid, I've had good luck using the same steps that I use on clearcoat as with single stage. Just plan on your pads turning whatever color the car is painted.

  4. Need a body shop safe interior dressing. Bulk quantities.

As I've grown from hobby detailing to a "professional" detailer at a high end dealership in the area (now managing my own crew of 3 guys), on top of working in their body shop nibbing, sanding, and...

    Re: cen-tech paint thickness gauge

Does anyone know the acceptable range of thickness for wetsanding, cutting, etc.? I don't know what is thick enough and what is too thin, but I have the tool. So it's somewhat useless at this point.

    Re: It's been a while - Update

I have painted the black trim on my '84 733i (not when that picture was taken), and I used the Dupli-Color trim paint. It worked wonders.

    Re: It's been a while - Update

Yes, the 1.8T is a Zero Tolerance/Clearance engine. Bent valves, knicked a piston, too.

    Re: It's been a while - Update

The timing belt broke at roughly 100,400 miles. I found that at least the front bumper, hood, passenger front 1/4, and rear bumper were repainted at some point. It did take a lot of working with the...

    It's been a while - Update

I haven't even visited this forum since March, let alone had the time to do so, but here's an update.

I know I didn't post much to begin with, but some of you may remember my 2001 Jeep Grand...

Great job, it looked like the PO's washed it with a Brillo pad regularly.

Phew, thanks. He wants no protectant... he is applying some sort of tint to them once they are clear again. Thanks again.

Just checking before I go ahead with this

A guy from a local forum got word that I do small details as a side job. He asked me to buff his new headlights that he just had wetsanded down to 2000 grit, and wondered if I can clear them up for...

    Re: Poorboy vs XMT

I love SSR2.5. I love Pinnacle, but can't seem to bring myself to get into the XMT line. SSR2.5 might be my favorite mid-grade polish.

I stopped using the side handle as well. Holding the head of the machine seems to work out much better for me. More comfortable.

Re: Poorboys SSR1 TURNS MY WHTE PADs PINK!!!

My pads are discolored from SSR1 and SSR2.5 even after they were cleaned as well, but it doesn't affect the effectiveness of the pad or cause any negative effects for polishing.
