    Re: Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax

I have been applying this to my black Subaru Forester, unfortunately during the "base" process which I assume it's a wipe on and wipe off process, but it is leaving behind a blotchy type finish.

  3. Re: Hazing/Residue/Film left over after buffing Sealant/Wax

I'll try letting it cure, it's winter here at the moment, temps are about 10C during the day.

I feel like no matter what I try, the results are still very mediocre.

Leaving a a hard to see film...
  4. Re: Hazing/Residue/Film left over after buffing Sealant/Wax

Good idea, Ill give it a go.

I washed the car after 205 - used a mix of my neutral snow foam with a squirt of some dishwashing liquid - car is bare.
  5. Hazing/Residue/Film left over after buffing Sealant/Wax

I have tried my luck at using some Fusso, having some pretty poor results. Though I suspect its not the product, but perhaps my technique. I have never applied a sealant before. Plenty of wax's sure,...
  6. Re: Just finished compounding/Polishing - lots of dust, want to wash but what soap to use ? Gold class?

I ended up just washing the car with some gold wash. Dried it off and applied my wax.

That said I notice some very very fine swirls in direct sunlight.

I could see them under my lights I...
  7. Re: Just finished compounding/Polishing - lots of dust, want to wash but what soap to use ? Gold class?

At the moment all I have is CT18 truck wash...

Going to the store to buy some fresh stuff :)
  8. Just finished compounding/Polishing - lots of dust, want to wash but what soap to use ? Gold class?

Finishing up polishing my car, and there is alot of polish dust everywhere.

I think it would be best for me to give it a wash before I apply my wax, but was wondering if I wash my car with...
  9. Subaru Forester MY09 XT Premium in Obsidian Black

This has got to be one of the biggest detailing projects I have done (mind you I havn't done very many, only doing my personal cars!).

I bought this car a few weeks ago and could not stand looking...
  10. Re: Picking up a "new" used car - How to start removing all the previous "detailing"?

Thanks everyone, I will have to post up some before and after shots as this thing is pretty swirled up!

Thank you Mike, I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge :)
  11. Re: Picking up a "new" used car - How to start removing all the previous "detailing"?

Funny thing - I have never actually used a APC :\

There are a few simple green products that are readily available from my local hardware store, but I feel they might be too harsh.

    Not sure...
  12. Picking up a "new" used car - How to start removing all the previous "detailing"?

    Hey all,

Picking up my new car from the dealership this coming week, and knowing the dealership they give it a "Full detail" - So i am sure to have lots of werid products all over my interior and...

Re: How do I get that "wet look"?

The wet sand, cut and buff was done after I felt the painted cured for a bit. It had never quite the same since. I can't put a exact date on the sand, but would have been well after the paint had...

Re: How do I get that "wet look"?

Well, i guess its in the eye of the beholder.

It has several "craters/fish eyes" (it was water/silicone contamination in my air lines) and a couple of runs.

I managed to wet sand out some of...

Re: How do I get that "wet look"?

Thanks for all the replies guys!

The paint job has a few defects in it from doing it at home and being a bit of a newb, but overall its pretty flat and minimal peel.

Here are a few photos I...

How do I get that "wet look"?

I have a 1994 Mazda Miata which I have recently resprayed in 2k basecoat clear coat.

It normally lives outside and after giving it a wash its not quite as glossy after I had painted...
  18. Re: Carpet extractor/cleaner vs Steam cleaner? Who has one?

I ended up with a bissell carpet extractor, i believe similar to the one you mentioned.

Great little unit, cleaned everything very well!
  19. Carpet extractor/cleaner vs Steam cleaner? Who has one?

Thinking about buying a steam cleaner for cleaning interior and engine bays, but on the flip side there are also dedicated carpet cleaners.

    Which work better and why?
Which do you own and are you...
  20. Re: Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

    Well!

The time has come...and I made a decision.

    I bought the Makita 9227

Tried a small section on my boot lid with the included wool pad.

Next minute...swirls and holograms galore! ha...
  21. Re: Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

Faster results, can buff new paint after sanding to remove orange peel.

I believe a DA can do pretty much everything a rotary can...but it just takes way too long imo.

    Hoping for much faster...
  22. Re: Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

    Ha ha davey,

After being recommended the SCA buffer, I kinda gave up on JC....

My whole reason for wanting a rotary - DIY Paint your car at home Wet Sand n Buff.... - YouTube
  23. Re: Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

Will a rotary do what I'm asking though? Quick passes and a glass like finish?
The dual action takes many slow passes to achieve a decent result..
  24. Re: Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

I have been eyeing off the makita, but its a little steep at about $380AUD.
Checked eBay and seen them delivered from the states much cheaper...but I think I may have issues with it working on our...
  25. Looking for a Rotary Polisher - Recommendations?

I have been using my DAS6Pro for quite a while not (similar to the GG6 Polisher I believe), its a random orbital polisher.

Now I have been getting into spray painting and painted up my first...
