Re: Tips on getting smoke/cig smell out of car

I'll have to look again this time for the dip tobacco. It wouldn't be so hard if the interior weren't all black of course.

Re: Tips on getting smoke/cig smell out of car

You know - I haven't considered the idea that there could be dip tobacco in the car. I am 100% certain that there is no butts or ash in the car unless it's under the carpet somehow. I'm not sure how...

Tips on getting smoke/cig smell out of car

Hey All, I recently bought a 2018 4runner used that was smoked in for 6 months. I can't quite kick the cigarette smell and am looking for any advice here. Here is what I have done so far:
    -Vacuumed...
  4. Should you be able to see an auto body shops color blend?

    Hi All,

So I have a general question about auto body repair that I am hoping some experts on here can help with. I have a 2000 Lexus ES300 that is Pearl White. Over Thanksgiving I had a slight run...
  5. Re: Question for anyone who has worked at a body shop or car dealer

Thanks guys! That was the exact kind of info I was looking for.

The car did go through auction. I took a look at the front bumper and it has definitely come off (or been replaced before) because...
  6. Question for anyone who has worked at a body shop or car dealer

    Hi All,

Sorry this question isn't necessarily directly related to detailing but I thought that there would be a lot of people here who would have experience with this question. So I am looking at...
  7. Sanded through clear coat - touch up paint help

    Hi all,

In efforts to remove a key scratch on my old beater honda civic I accidentally sanded through the clear and paint on a small spot (a little smaller than a dime) I don't care about it that...

Could DA vibrations be bad for your paint?

    Hi All,

I tried searching on this topic but did not find anything. I was wondering if the vibrations from DAs ever damage the paint on your car? I am thinking more like in the middle of large...
  9. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

I may look into seeing if a local body shop can hit it with their paint gauge. Sounds like it is most likely nothing to worry about - also sounds like there really isn't much I can do about it...
  10. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

Tonight I went over the paint looking very closely at the surface with a number of different light sources - LEDS, flashlights, lamps etc. It does seem to be something in the pearl part of the paint...
  11. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

the surface is very uniform so I am guessing if it is a repair they most likely sprayed the whole panel. I kind of doubt it is a spot repair - I could see them doing it on the hood but I doubt that...
  12. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

See it's stuff like this I was hoping to get info about. I suppose that could very well be the case.

Thanks for those articles Mike - I think we can rule bird droppings out.

    Any other ideas?
  13. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

Hmmm, I don't but could prob find one to use. It is strange that they are all circular in shape as well - That is what made me think bird dropping or something that fell on the car.
  14. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

Yeah, I already clayed the car good - The surface is very clean smooth. I was thinking maybe the wax was just really crappy and uneven but cleaning the spot with IPA didn't change it either.

    Here...
  15. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

It is difficult to capture but the spots just look slightly lighter in tone than the rest of the car.
  16. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

I guess it would be the beginning of clear coat failure but keep in mind that it is only visible under certain light and certain angles. 90% of the time it looks perfectly uniform.
  17. Re: Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

The car is relatively new to me it is a 2000 Lexus ES300 with 60k miles. It has been garaged it's whole life and well cared for. I cannot attest to whether or not a bird dropping sat there for...
  18. Looking for an expert to identify this paint defect

    Hi All,

I have been trying to find the answer to this but can't seem to find anyone who knows what this is hopefully the experts here can help. I sported five of these little "spots" two on the...

Re: Are these circles touch up spots?

Ok I have added these photos to help point out what I am talking about. I am hoping someone can give some more insight in case this is something I am doing, I don't want to damage it more. Or if they...

Re: Are these circles touch up spots?

It's definitely not that -- if you saw it in person it would be obvious. I have seen what you are thinking of but this still have a DEEP gloss finish.

Re: Are these circles touch up spots?

This is what I thought it was at first but other than the very specific reflection tone difference there it is 100% consistent (tone and pearl effect). Usually it is much easier to tell!

Re: Are these circles touch up spots?

The only other thing I can think of was maybe a spot where bird poop sat for a long time or something?

I was able to sort of get it here. You can see it to the left of the light.
