You are probably right about the divit as product seems to migrate to the center of the pad and when i used my brush the foam in this area seemed to come apart.

Awlgrip is a paint very similiar to Imron, It is a hard paint but you should be able to work on it using any automotive type polishes or waxes but I would not use the Marine polishes on it.
I use Wolfgang Pad cleaner and Rejuvinator with the orange brush . I spray them and let them soak for about 10 min then go back spray,brush rinse repeat as necessary.
