  1. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

    :) Good analogy.
If I could build on it I'd say that the cylindrical buff, in texture and feel was more like an Orange CCS pad than a finishing pad.

I.e. with enough pressure, the right compound...
  2. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

I think it's important to emphasize that I went through several far less aggressive steps before settling on an approach, ranging from using a DA to several of the Eastwood buffs and rouges long...
  3. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

For clarification, these are the buffs that were used in steps 3 and 4 in the initial post.
I couldn't find links to the individual parts on the website so I will just post snapshots from the...
  4. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

I'll have to try and post pics of the buffs I used. The cylindrical one had a smaller radius, was the heaviest and most dense. I tried the firmer of the two sewn wheels with Tripoli also, and...
  5. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

    Thanks. :xyxthumbs:
However I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but I'll answer what I think you're asking in the interim :)

When I started my research, my intention was to polish...
  6. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

    Thanks. Hope it helps.
  7. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

Good advice there - thanks :dblthumb2:.

This was 2008 trim, and some of the first testing I did was with various grades of 3M XF paper/sponges.
I would definitely not suggest using any machine...
  8. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

Thanks - It was 2 sanding steps (first 150 and then 220 grit) followed by 2 compound steps.
This was my first ever attempt at this and I was also surprised at how workable the material is. It took a...
  9. Re: How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

    Thanks everyone.

I think it would need to be a hard paste product at least, else it will be spraying all over the place
I did actually try a couple of paint compounds with a 3 inch GG...
  10. How to make your stanless steel door sills look brand new

The stainless steel door sills on the Cayenne were in pretty bad shape, so I started looking for options to bring them back into respectable condition.

This is what they all looked like before I...

    Re: My Complete Garage Overhaul

Guys - thank you so much for all the compliments below. Very much appreciated. I've done very little painting in my lifetime, so I probably took a whole lot longer to get the job done than most...

    My Complete Garage Overhaul

My garage floor was painted many years before I bought the house with a gray paint that actually held up pretty well considering it was probably at least 12 years old. However, in the last few years...

    Re: Blackfire SRC Compound review

Sorry, I forgot to elaborate on that:

What I do is switch on the orbital for 2/3 seconds to get the pad spinning. As it slows, I spray the pad with the Spray Wax to prime it and ensure there is...

    Blackfire SRC Compound review

I was inspired by the video done by Mike Phillips and Todd Helme where they used SRC to correct some significant swirls and scratches on a new 2012 Camaro. Great instructional video by these two...

Great review and great results Mike.
The shot of the suns reflection off the hood is particularly impressive:dblthumb2:
  20. Re: BF Midnight Sun Instant Detailer or BFWD Polymer Spray?

This is something I've been wondering about also. According to the labels, both products will work over Midnight Sun wax.

I'd like to know if anyone has experience as to which product does a...

Re: Blackfire Midnight Sun Spray Wax Review / Pics

    Thanks for the feedback guys.
Any idea if wiping off the Spray Wax with a wet MF would compromise the product's effectiveness?
