So right after I clean it the wheel is tacky/sticky but that quickly goes away and the next day I find the wheel slippery for a few days then it goes away and is normal.
nope no smoking in my car.

Have not tried using a damp cloth after. Might be something to try.

I use a wooden leather brush, so something similar to this to scrub it & wipe it away with a microfiber - GYEON Q2M Leather Horse Hair Brush | CARZILLA

I may be getting them powder coated next year so maybe I'll leave them alone for now. Or at least try in a small area and see how it comes out. Maybe in the barrel of the wheel.
