Re: Car Cover or No Car Cover?

I think a decent cover is a good stop-gap. Why can't the Saab go under a cover outside?

    Re: sticky coating

Well Cockpit just p***ed it off and spread around the sticky stuff. 10:1 OPC worked a bit better, 3:1 better still, removing the stickiness from the horn, but it tools several applications of full...

    Re: sticky coating

They weren't sticky before the detail, but the car is a 2001 BMW convertible with only 30k miles (vacation car), and while it's been garaged and kept clean, this is it's first detail. Not all...

    Re: sticky coating

Bump? Does anyone else know how to remove sticky silicone-like residue left by a ham-handed detailer?

    Thanks.

    Re: sticky coating

Were you ever able to resolve the stickiness? We just had a car detailed and whatever they used on the interior left several surfaces a sticky mess.

    Re: Collinite - Too Good!

It looks like I need to give 476 a shot at some point, if only for giggles and grins. It sounds like it lends itself to application with a dual-action buffer, which can put wax on really thin. Has...

    Re: Collinite - Too Good!

It looks like I need to give 476 a shot at some point. I'm at 14 weeks on the 845 and it still beads like crazy. Winter weather has set in here in the NW, and I've been traveling a lot, so I've...

    Re: Collinite - Too Good!

I'm another happy Collinite user, especially now that the bottle's a little less full--makes it easier to turn liquid. I use a DA to apply, so it's thin. It sure doesn't take much!

+1 for The 3M kit. It'll be interesting to see how you like the Diamondite kit.

    Re: Collinite Wheel Wax?

Ok, I may get motivated tonight and buff them after work. It won't take long, just a hassle of moving cars, etc. Thanks.

    Re: Collinite Wheel Wax?

That was the plan--just ran out of time/energy last night to buff them, so tossed them up onto the rack and put the cars away.

What's the downside to waiting? I wouldn't do this if they were on...
  14. Re: Other than detailing cars, what is your other obsessions in life.

Hmmm, what else am I compulsive about?

Let's see...cars, motorcycles, food, music, watches, woodworking.

That's pretty much it for the time being, but stay tuned--new compulsions arrive...

    Re: New guy from Oooooregon

Welcome, Phil. I'm in SW Portland. Looks like you have a nice set up there. May give you a call when the weather makes doing everything myself not so much fun!

    Collinite Wheel Wax?

I finally got around to waxing my new winter wheels with Collinite 845. I put on a thin coat, and just left it on thinking I'll buff and put on another coat before I get the tires mounted in a few...

Re: Metro Vac N Blo or leaf blower?

I have a Vac-n-Blo and I love it. It's a great vac, fantastic suction and quiet, which is what I primarily use it for. It works well as a blower--in my experience better than my Toro leaf...

    Re: GG Glass Sealant

What's it do, exactly? Like Rain-x? I tried Rain-x a long time ago and hated it for the PNW weather--more mist than rain, so the wipers just scaped it off.

    Re: meguiars gold wash

    +1
I use the low end Meg's Crystal wash, and it sheets nicely now that I have sealant + 845 on top. My only criticism is that it takes a lot: 2 oz per gallon doesn't aound like much until you use...

Nick, thanks. You may want to tweak the description on the web page--all it talks about is making trio darker and shows black trim pics.

    Re: Detailing Non-Black Trim?

Ok will start with APC. Good excuse to pick up some OPC anyway. The Ultima Tire and Trim Guard looks interesting, too, although I just picked up some Griot's long-lasting tire treatment. I've just...
