How do ya know if have removed the swirl marks or just filled them?

How do you know if you have removed the scratchs(swirl marks) or just filled them.I don't want a bunch of swirl marks to show after a couple of washs.

How do you know if your removeing scratchs, or just useing somekind of filler that washs of .
