Re: Lent my buddy some of my collinite

I loaned a friend my 3/4 full bottle of C-845. He liked it so well that I never got it back. :) He must have coated his Rav-4 many times. :) It's on my shopping list.

    Re: Meguiars ultimate wax

Hmmm. I'm heading out to the garage to shake all of my product bottles! Never considered the shelf life aspect.

    Re: WeatherTech Cargo Liners

tempting. I haul a lot of messy stuff in my '03 ML320. Do things slide around a lot on the Weathertech surface?

Re: My PTG won't read my hood.

Some gauges read ferrous vs. non-ferrous. They will read steel but not aluminium. Found that out on my 560SL - aluminium hood and deck

Re: Anything in or near Kansas City?

The closest we get to any kind of detailing event around here is that The Complete Garage out in Lenexa, KS (suburban KC) will bring in the Griot's folks for a Saturday clinic once every year or two....

Re: Anyone on the fence? Go Griots

I have the new Griot's unit and I'm duly impressed like the other members have said. I was still considering a Flex to "round out the tool box" so to speak, but it sounds like I should spend more...

    Re: Clear coat failure

I forgot to report back: I ended up sanding off the remaining clear coat, starting with 400 grit and working up to 1500. Then I used Meguiar's 105/205 with my Griot's 3" buffer with an orange pad...

    Re: Clear coat failure

Someone on another forum gave me a tip that is actually working: he suggested using plastic tape or duct tape to remove the remaining peeling clear coat. Press it down over and area, then peel it...

    Re: Totoland's Almost Back

Nice job & welcome back. I just got an ML320 and found that the first tool you need for these SUV's is a damn LADDER!! If you ever want to train an apprentice, remember I'm just a mile or so away!...

    Re: Clear coat failure

Hmmm...a wrap? I wonder if the vinyl wrap places would bother with something this small. I'll do the requisite sanding to get the old clear off, then I'll try some 105 to see if the underlying (and...

    Re: Clear coat failure

The previous owner took good care of the car otherwise, so these pillars are an anomaly. I may try a plastic scraper, but otherwise it looks like a job for wetsanding.

    Clear coat failure

I recently bought a 2003 ML320 that has a very typical condition on the rear window pillars – the clear coat has failed big-time.

    Re: '86 Mercedes-Benz 300SDL

Gotta love the old MB single-stage paint! ;) It'll oxidize like crazy if neglected but it can always be brought back to life in the right hands. :xyxthumbs: [That would be you.]

    Re: Sully's Detailing: CLK
