Rupes Uhs on a porter cable 7424
Has anyone used the Rupes Uhs one step and pad on a porter cable 7424? I have a buddy that has the pc but wanted to try the Rupes Uhs. I understand that the Rupes machine will work better but how will the Uhs perform with the Uhs? Thanks. Phil

That's because UHS isn't an AIO. It's mainly meant to be a one step polish for harder clear coats.
I don't think the UHS system will work well with the PC. From the size and shape of the pad to the fact that it was designed for a long throw machine.
The UHS system has not worked well for me except in a few paints (an Escalade and a few Mercedes). Soft paint works better with other products.

Re: Rupes Uhs on a porter cable 7424
Yeah kind of confusing....
RUPES UHS Polishing Compound is a one-step polish/compound as the name on the bottle implies and as the performance of the product vindicates.
Like other compounds and polishes however it does not leave behind any long term protection, like in a wax or sealant protection ingredients.
So while it is a polishing compound it is not an AIO or a cleaner/wax.
For what it's worth, cleaner/waxes were the topic of my IDA Webinar and in the Power Point Presentation there's a slide we went over that explains that cleaner/waxes and AIOs are the same thing.
These are just different terms for the same category of product, that is a product that will,
- Clean
- Polish
- Protect
And do it in one step.

Re: Rupes Uhs on a porter cable 7424
Anytime anyone chooses to deviate from the system a company has established for their products, the results - could - be "unpredictable".
That means that if any component of the system - tool, pad, liquid, (and anything else pertaining to the system ) is changed, the results will be more difficult to predict.
In the words of Mike Phillips - Do a test spot.
This will give you the most direct feedback if the PC will work with the UHS system.

Re: Rupes Uhs on a porter cable 7424
I use UHS frequently and love it, but I work primarily on harder clearcoats. It can be difficult to remove on occasion. Like conman mentioned, I would not use it on softer paint, there are much better options (m205 for me).
I've never tried it on a PC, but I would expect it to do well in terms of correction, but removal may be challenging as you won't be able to work the polish in the same manner as a long throw.
Probably best to skip and go with options that perform very well on the PC.

Thanks, mike! Sounds like information I should watch. I'll have to see if it's available for replay.
