    Black dust?

I bought a 21esin the autopia open box sale and just used it today. It is letting off a lot of black dust from where the backing plate touches the gasket(?). Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal. I have a 15 & 21, and they both did what yours is doing.

since that thread has such a potpourri of information, some of it conflicting...

i'd do all of the following and in this order:

    1. contact Rupes so they can confirm it's normal or not.

    2. contact Autopia/Autogeek as backup.

    3. run it for a while and see if it stops since that seems to be a common complaint.
