Just Bought LHR21 MkII - What MF Pads?
Hey everyone!
I finally decided on a machine, and I chose the LHR21 MkII. Upgrading from my gen 1 7424 that I've been using for 5 years - this should be interesting!
So I've yet to use any MF pads - which one do you guys recommend for use with the 21 MkII? Is any kind of interface pad required?
I purchased the kit that comes with the machine, 3D products, and B&S Uro Tech pads. Seemed like the best bang for your buck deal, figured I'd try everything out and pick up whatever other pads I would need or like to try. Do you guys recommend grabbing any other pads? I've seen a lot of positive comments for the Rupes yellow foam pad, LC thin pads, and a few people even using GG BOSS pads on thei Rupes.
I finally got over the confusion of deciding on a machine, now I'm confused about pads!

Mike wrote a small book on this subject and the little I have seen from it he says that Rupes made this polisher and the Rupes pad as a system. I would guess using their pads would be the best performance.

Megs Microfiber cutting discs are a great match for the Rupes 15/21
Rupes yellow pads are one of the most versatile pads out there in my experience; great with a lot of liquids.

Correctamundo....
My experience leads to my recommendation and my recommendation is to START with RUPES pads and products with RUPES tools and after you have MASTERED their "system" - then start experimenting with other pads and products. THEN - if the other pads and products you test out with the RUPES tools are not working to your satisfaction you have the RUPES pads and products to fall back on.
Make sense?
The RUPES system WORKS. Works damn good. Every car in my RUPES how-to book I detailed with the entire RUPES system. There's no mock-up in any of my books.

I loved the original blue Rupes microfiber, but the new white ones aren't bad either. They're actually pretty durable and solid. Just have to make sure to keep those fibers fluffed up.

I was just reading another post of yours on another forum lol. Would you be able to provide the product number for the Megs pads?

How do you recommend that? During cleaning after a panel, just fluff 'em back up? Thanks!

D300 is one of my favorite compounds.

Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System, paint polishing system, car polish, car detailing system, compounding system, remove scratches
DMC5 DA or DMC6 DA
Thing about microfiber is that it's best to brush/fluff after each section. Best way is compressed air after each section but brush works as well.

Yep! I just use a pad conditioning brush after each section.
If you ever have trouble cutting, try checking the face of the pad even after one or two passes. If you see matted fibers topped with any shiny or glossy deposits, then you're cutting very fast, and probably loading the pad with abraded paint and used compound before all the defects are removed. In my head I refer to this as "trip over", or "overshooting". My compound and pad "overshoot" the defect removal target by cutting too fast, thus "tripping over" itself. The result is having to make another pass with re-fluffed fibers, and some fresh liquid.
This happens with foam too.
