Re: rupes mark II 21" vs 15"
The machine runs cooler than the 3401. When using proper technique heat isn't an issue with the pads. Especially pads with the hole in the center to dissipate heat more effectively. You don't use the downward force with the long throws like you do the Flex.

The 15 is easier to use on tighter areas, the 21 is considerably more powerful. Thats the most simple, direct, truthful answer from someone who owns both.

I agree.
I think in my RUPES how-to book one of the things I share is to take everything you've learned and know about buffing with all other polishers, as far as technique and throw it out the window.

Correct, you don't have to push down on the machine like a Flex. Light pressure and let the machine, pad, and product do the work.
I may have misunderstood the question are you asking about those two machines vs a Rupes, or comparing the 15 to the 21.

I was supposed to get a copy of your book free when I bought my mini on Autopia but I ordered it over the phone and didn't get the book with the machine. I really enjoyed the one book of yours I have. Your explanations are very thorough and easy to understand.
It took me a few years to finally break down and buy a Rupes. Bought the ibird and after seeing the quality of that machine and how well it worked I got a 15 Mark II and a mini witching a few weeks. With my back issues they have added even more enjoyment to doing paint corrections.

I don't see a link for the downloadable version yet. Hopefully Mike will chime in.
You can also get a 5" backing plate for the 21 I believe. I find the 15 to be more versatile. Here is a link to the book itself which they can ship. Not sure about freight costs,
