Using a rotary with M105-8207 pad.....

Gang,

On my last detail, I got the rotary thing down pretty good. However....here and there I would experience a situation that looks like the product would sling out and kind of splatter on the paint and dry instantly and take some doing to remove. I clean the pad on the fly after every application and didn't experience it all the time. I didn't take a picture of it but basically it seems to "puke" out product and dries instantly.

Any suggestions? Too much product? I lay a bead of product down about 6" or so pick it up with my rotary and work it in. I clean on the fly and do it again, it does it on a dry pad, pad used a while etc. I do switch pads on every side of the vehicle.

hey nappers i too have had this happen if its the same thing im thinking in my experience i think its either caked pad but you clean on the fly or over worked product losses lubrication and dried out. I've had to qd it off or add more product to buff it off. don't know for sure if this is the reason hope we get some more responses

It's wierd, doesn't do it all the time and I'll be happily rotaring and BLAH, product puked on the paint then have to use a QD to remove it and it's not a little bit, it's quite a good amount of stuff. Not at low speeds, high speeds either.....

HA! Someone else has this problem! Great! Thought I was alone... I just started using a rotary and have done a few cars with awesome results. But yes I too get this problem too. I think its just too much product on the pad and we are using to much. That is the hardest thing to learn for me is how much product to use. Hope we all get an answer!

Yah me too and I agree. It is alot diff. than using a PC though. Much more fun too!

Hello Nappers. I believe the problem is that the pad is getting saturated with product. (It probably works fine at first then after a panel or two you are getting splatter?) This can happen when you need to tilt the pad or you apply more pressure at a point during polishing but otherwise while flat it is fine.

You might try to use a microfiber towel to clean the pad on the fly. It is done different than with a pc. Instead of holding the mf in my hand and pressing into it while the pc is on I press into the pad with the mf over my finger and pull the product from the middle to the outside while spinning the rotary. It's easier than it sounds or you could just change pads more often.

Oh and I find that 105 does dry very fast also.
