He made a valid comment about the longevity of a product. You just said nothing would ever live up to Opti-coat 2.0.

Other day I was reading about coating and this is what I found...

    Opticoat vs. GTechniq C1

    As usual: you misinterpreted/misquoted
    another one of my posts.

Re: Which coating will fill the Opti-Coat 2.0 void?

Some misinformation in that thread and I'm not even done reading...

Opti-Coat does not add or subtract gloss, nor does it alter the colour or depth of paint. Which is why it can be used on matte surfaces also (wheels, raw carbon etc).

What changes the look is the paint correction as lovecolt says above. The idea is that the paint correction is performed to remove/minimise swirls and marring as well as increase clarity and gloss in the paint itself. The Opti-Coat is then simply used to "lock-in" that paint correction work. Once done it will then stay that way. As was mentioned above, Brad's car is a good example of this.
The above in bold is false. It does add a subtle darkening to the surface and this is can clearly be seen on solid black paint or even a matt finish by simply doing a 50/50 test section with a hard line.

MANY installers have reported etching from bird poo, which does not always just go away over time. I just had to do a touch up on car and the bird poo stain was given over 6 months to "go away" on its own.

5+ years is permanent enough for me.

Your prerogative to use 5 years as your benchmark for permanency.

    It's just not mine.
