Wheel Brightener, Meguiar's Does it Work?
My eye is caught by the word, "Brightener." This reminds me off laundry soap "Brighteners." Are we talking the same concept here? Or is Meg's claim of brightener only due to the fact the wheel looks "brighter" only because its been cleaned.

It cleans the crap out of wheels! They look brighter even than new.
That said it is a strong acid and you have to be very careful with it, it will ruin uncoated aluminum wheels.

This is exactly why I stopped using it. Many products on the market that clean just as well that aren't nearly as harsh.

It works, just be careful not to get it on your skin or inhale its fumes.

What are you using in place of WB?

Yeah isn't it basically acid. Even Poorboy's Spray and Rinse was too much for me. 1z Colourtec or APC for me.

If no one wants to bring up Meguiar's D140 (contains ABF)
"morphing" into HF; and HF's health hazards to Humans:
They're very real...and exposure poses serious risks!!

To obtain the same pH that Meguiar's D140 has @ 3:1 ratio (~2.0...HF Acid):
There's always this product:
AutoMagic Spoke (pH ~2.0 ) contains:
Hydrofluoric acid; 2-Butoxyethanol

I hope people have given up using Simple Green
and LA Awesome. Although:
Does anyone spray a little mist of them into the air:
Just to get a whiff of 'me every now and then?

Some Wheel-Cleaner pH comparisons:
• Amazing Roll-Off (pH 14.0) contains butyl
• Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity Cleaner (pH of 13.0) contains butyl
• Bilberry is acid free but highly caustic (pH 13.0)
• Multi-purpose cleaners (pH between 9.5 and 12.0)
• Blackfire Gel Wheel and Tire Cleaner (pH 12.5)
• P21S® Bodywork Shampoo (ph 8.0)
• P21S Wheel Cleaner---Green (pH controlled 9.0)
• P21S Wheel Cleaner (422) Red Gel Formula (pH 9.5)
• Sonax Autopflege Wheel Cleaner full effect (pH controlled 9.5)
• Menzerna Tire & Wheel Cleaner (pH 7.5) detergent-based cleaners with surfactants, wetting agents and oil emulsifiers
• Griot’s Wheel Cleaner (pH 7.1)
Note:
Chemical buffers are often used to "balance or control" the pH---Yep...can you say: Marketing (neutral pH 7.0 sounds safer)
