Mytee2 and Vapor VX5000 Cleaning Suggestions.

I own 2 Vx5000 units and would like to service them, I am considering using a bottle of CLR and filling the rest with water but I don't know how long to let it sit in the boiler. I am aware that the need to boil the water is a NO NO while CLR is in it.

Also I have 2 Mytee Lite 2's and would like to service them, would Vinegar be strong enough to clean the lines and heater elements and on this unit as I spray the mixture out should the heating element be powered on? and what ratio would you use?

    VX5000

If used regularly (2 or more times a week) clean once a month.
If used less every 2 months.
CLR,, pour 1/2 cup CLR in to an empty VX5000.
Add one to two quarts of water, (eight times th amount of CLR)
Let it set (unplugged) for two to three hours, or more.
Remove bottom plug, flush with clean water pouring it in the top and letting it drain out the bottom.
    Distilled white vinegar.
2 cups DV, add 2 cups water, let stand over night or 24 hours.
    Drain and flush

I would play it safe and use the Mytee maintainer on the extractor ?

Great, I am setting up for the CLR clean out right now. To be honest bob this is my original VX5000 and has seen 1 to 2 hundred details without maintenance. I am ashamed to say that because I am normally one to care for my equipment and vehicles to the up most. I have just neglected this one. Would it be safe to pour a entire bottle of CLR which from my calculation fill it a 1/3 of the way and then top it off to the brim with warm tap water?

    Well you should be ashamed!

I don't think it would hurt anything, you could use the CLR and later on leave the white vinegar in it for 24 hours?

I used vinegar mainly cuz it's cheaper.

I just came across this. I also have used my VX about 100 times without cleaning it. I noticed over the weekend that everything the steam hit turned a chalky white. Thinking it needs cleaned?
