combining Duragloss 601 with 105 or 501
I've had a few large vehicles to do lately and did not want to take the time to do both 601 and 105 so I spoke to Jerry at Duragloss and he suggested I combine the 2 in a 4 to 1 ratio of either 501 or 105 at 4 parts and 601 at one part. I bought a couple of cheap dollar store plastic ketchup dispensers and mixed 2 bottles up...one with 601/501 and one with 601/105. It worked like a champ. The only downside Jerry said is that the shelf life would be very short; measured in hours. I found that after 2 days it was maybe a bit thicker, but still working very well. This saves one step for each product (501 and 105) and saves time. In addition, you are still getting the benefit of the 601...flash cures, longer durability. I wanted to share this info as I know there are a lot of DG fans here on AGOL. Just mix up small batches and you'll be good to go. I used some more tonight and it was still fine after 4 days.

Great info Richy, thanks for sharing!

is the shelf life short because of the exposure to air in the mixing process OR is it because the chemicals are mixing?
i wonder if you can just "mix" them on the pad? or do you think the consistency wouldn't be linear?

The shorter shelf life is due to the mixing of the 2 products. It would be more difficult to mix them on the pad, but it's not a bad idea. Just mix a smaller amount and it should not be a problem. This procedure is only if you are looking to save time. If that is not an issue, you can do it normally.

Thanks for sharing Richy! Great info- I've got to try this out. Every time I see a job of yours with the DG I get a little more curious.

This is the first time I can remember that a manufacture actually recommended to a customer to mix their products together.
Interesting.

Richy, have you tried the newer DP polycoat product ?? When I see the Duragloss posts with booster and sealant I wonder how it would fair against a product that has it built in. I also heard Zaino is toying which getting their booster product and sealant in one but needing to be stable and beneficial over a long period of time. Your thoughts ?? Did you try the Duragloss sealant that others on different forums suggest is being beta tested and your thoughts and design as possible ??

I've done beta testing for Jerry on a number of products. I set up a group on DB and Autopia to test different versions of sealants. I also set up 2 different groups with a sealant system that you had to mix 4 different chemicals into. It too had a short shelf life. When the 601 is mixed with the 501 or 105 there is initially no change in the consistency of the liquid. By the next day it has thickened up somewhat. It really does not get too thick because it still comes out of the small opening of the ketchup squeeze bottle I'm using. In fact, I used some today that I had mixed on Friday and it seemed to be the same consistency that it was on Saturday. It performed the same too. Jerry is always experimenting with products trying to make them even better. He sets very, very high standards and most do not make the cut. The man does not quit. He just sent me out another package to try out this week. The 601/105 combo is a killer combo (no pun intended..hahahahaha). By mixing them, it just saves time. There is a cost of a change in the consistency or viscosity of it, but so far it seems minimal. I will keep testing this batch and will mix up more to test as well but I really like how these 2 react in the same bottle. I'm not surprised others are doing it as well. I have not tried the DP product to answer your question about that.

This is one of the reasons I just ordered DG 105/501/601/Aqua Wax. I already have DG 111 but it can be very tricky and 105 is supposed to work easier. It's going on the white Benz I was telling you about. Oh, I ordered the Ultima Interior Guard Plus too. If you didn't get around to ordering it yet let me know. Hijack over, sorry Richy.

Richard..I tried the 111 and it just seemed to be a little harder to remove than the 105, so I'll stick with that. When I get done my 16oz bottle, I'm gonna order it by the gallon for a better deal. I ordered some AW yesterday...is that what you are referring to? I have no intention of ordering Ultima?? I AM looking forward to seeing that Benz!!
