Griots FAST MF Pads and Complete Compound

Living in the Northwest definitely gives you a variety of vehicles to work on. I have done more trucks then anything, most of them black. So when I got a call from a customer to do a detail on his Honda Ridgeline, I wasn’t too surprised to hear it was black. After a quick phone interview I learned it has been in Alaska since new and was run thru car washes at least once a week for the last 4 years, I was a bit nervous.

Yes, the paint was trashed as suspected.

I just picked up a bottle of Griot’s Complete Compound and had yet to try it…seemed like a great opportunity to test it out. Armed with a GG 6” DA and the new Griot’s FAST Microfiber Cutting pads I did a test section of the side of the bed…..WOW!

This was my first use of the new generation of thin pads and there was a bit of a learning curve to it. You can’t let the pad form to the contour of bodylines and curves; there is no pad really there. You really have to move the machine around to get as much contact as possible, but it was quick to adapt to and really worked awesome.

As far as the Complete Compound goes, I had almost zero dusting with it and a great work time and the oil based DAT abrasives, it polished down to a great finish. With surface temps around 75-80* (air temp of 50*)I had plenty of time to work a 2x2 area at a time with very easy wipe off. Very impressed with the product the first time out! Topped it off with some Megs #26 and told owner to stay away from car washes.

I’m typically a Mequiar’s guy, but with the Griot’s Showroom store 25 minutes away from me, I’ve been trying out their stuff more and more and will try to do more reviews.

    Mike

Hey guys new to the forum. Thanks for the review and pictures Mike. I've been very curious of the Griot's polishes and finishes. It seems as though not many people use them over some of the other brands I've seen. If you try more out, please let us know!

Very nice work Mike, I also have the GG 6" but have been using LC Flats primarily. Have wondered about GG's pads and polishes. I've used a few of their products and I like them, guess it's time to try out the pads & some of their scratch fixers. Thanks for the review. Take care.

    Peace,

    Darrin

I too have been wondering about that product. I also have a GG6. How would you say the Complete Compound compares to Megs Ultimate Compound? Nice job on that Honda!
