Being a fan of both products, using Klasse longer (since 2005) and Collinite for less than a year, I can speak to this. KSG would compare better to Collinite #915 as its all about shine AND protection, KSG is all about shine AND protection as well. KSG needs that 2nd coat though, not because of it needing the unfair advantage but rather because its sooo noticeable when you apply the 2nd coat. If this is done just apply a 2nd coat to Collinite as well.

Re: Head-to-Head cage match - Klasse SG vs. Collinite 845

What pad do you use for the KAIO and the 845?

Do you mean the SG since it was the LSP like the 845? To cover all bases, here is how I did this.

    - KAIO was applied with mild polishing pad on a speed of 4. KSG was applied by hand with a microfiber pad.

    - 845 was applied with a black finishing pad on a speed of 3.

Thanks. Sorry, I meant with a DA polisher for the KAIO and the 845, so you answered my question.

This was my maiden voyage with the 845 and to keep things like-for-like in this test, I kept to a single coat of each. In the past, I could go all winter on a single coat of KSG.

While not part of this test, I did double coat my wife's SUV with SG for the first time. Her car gets exposed to worse conditions and gets more touchless washes in the winter. I wanted to be sure that vehicle was well protected. To be honest, on that dark crimson vehicle, I didn't notice any significant change in shine...it looked good, but not measurably better than the first coat.

Unless the 845 totally bombs this endrance test, I actually see myself keeping both around and just double coat for the winter. The Mazda is a lighter color with large ammounts of large metal flake which looks amazing under Klasse products. I really like the look of the 845 on the darker colors. It's less mirror-like reflective and seems to provide better depth. The 845 and BH combo on the GTI almost makes it appear to be drawing in all light, like, ummm...an oily black hole since the pearl/metalic content is low and the particals are tiny.

Re: Head-to-Head cage match - Klasse SG vs. Collinite 845

We got some rain today, so I thought I provide another pictorial update.

The Klasse (on a slightly dirty roof) results.

The Collinite 845 results (after driving the vehicle in the rain)

Both are still looking good and going strong after at least one touchless wash and going through two snow storms and now rain.

Its interesting how driving in a light rain you can actually have a dry car due to the water beads flying off the surface.

I've got 845 over the Klasse twins. I finally got a chance to do a rinseless wash today and the 845 was still popping. I topped with Duragloss AW and it looks great. This was mainly for protection because it is pouring rain in NE Ohio this weekend. AIO then 3 coats of SG followed by two coats of 845 in late October.

You can't go wrong with 845. It's been my winter wax for a couple years now. It really protects well and a little goes a long way.
