    Review: Auto Finesse Tough Coat

Well first off a HUGE Thank you to AG for this!

    On to the review:

Auto Finesse Tough coat Paint Sealant

    Product description:

Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant is a spray-on paint sealant that protects your paint for several months while providing a rich, deep gloss. Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant, as the name suggests, blankets your vehicle with a tough coating of paint protection that can withstand the elements. This high-gloss, spray-on paint sealant only takes minutes to apply but the results last months!

Not all spray on paint sealants are created equal and Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant is proof. Unlike a conventional spray-on paint sealant that lasts weeks, Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant lasts months. Application is as simple as spraying on, spreading out with an applicator, and wiping off. There is no easier way to protect your vehicle’s delicate finish!

The same polymers that provide long-lasting paint protection emit a deep, fluid gloss as well. Vehicles that are treated with Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant will have crisp, clear reflections; Tough Coat Paint Sealant brings out the shine potential of all colors!

You don’t have to sacrifice paint protection in the name of easy application. Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant is incredibly easy to apply. Vehicle’s that are treated will be well protected against anything nature can throw at them including bird droppings, UV rays, airborne contaminants and more! Auto Finesse Tough Coat Paint Sealant is arguably one of the best investments you can make in car care!

    Application Instructions:
Start by giving the bottle a good shake to integrate the ingredients, and repeat periodically throughout the detailing process to make sure that the components stay mixed. Prime a Microfiber or Foam Applicator Pad (Or the black side of one of our Dual Foam applicators.) using 2-3 spritzes of product, and apply to paint in thin coats, using overlapping linear strokes. You will notice Tough Coat begin to haze almost immediately. Add another spritz of product to the pad whenever you notice the applicator starting to run dry. A little bit goes a very long way, so take care not to over-apply to avoid waste. Continue around the vehicle until every panel has been coated. You can wait for as little, or as long as you want to buff off Tough Coat. However, for best results we recommend waiting at least 5-minutes before removing the residue with a Plush Microfiber Towel. If any ‘patching’ of the coat occurs, adding an additional coat of product will help to even out the initial layer.

    Price
    $29.99 250 mL bottle

    Initial Impressions
-Layers when let to sit so shake it well
-Smell: Not so good! Smells like gasoline!
-Like the sprayer makes a very fine mist

    Car/Paint Prep
-Washed with 2BM and Maxi Suds II
    -IronX decon on the paint
-Paint Clayed via DA with Nanoskin Autoscrub Pad
-Paint polished with HD polish on a LC Hydrotech polishing pad via Rupes 21
-CarPro Easer to ensure all oils were removed prior to application

    Application
I first sprayed a yellow foam applicator pad 3 times to essentially prime the pad. I then began to apply the Tough coat to the paint. The application was very easy and straight forward. If I felt the pad starting to dry up or catch on the paint I applied only one spray each time. A little bit goes a long way in this application. Once the Tough coat was applied to the panel you could see the sealant haze up. Once hazed it said you can wait 1 minute then buff off but they say its better to wait at least five for maximum results. So I then processed to do then entire vehicle.

Once the entire vehicle was coated I went to the removal step. I used a soft plush MF chinchilla towel for removal and this was an absolute breeze. The Tough Coat wiped off to a high shine with no streaking or residue left behind. Very very easy removal.

    Durability
Though I can't comment on this just yet I plan do be doing maintenance washes on this car at least once a month. It will surely be put to the test though as this van is a delivery van for a local flower shop.

    Looks
On white its head to tell but it did seem at add just a little bit extra pop and gloss.

    Feel
This one sort of surprised me. As a user of BlackFire Wet Diamond Paint Sealant I have become very accustom to the slick feel of the paint after that application, however Tough Coat does not yield any slickness in the feel at all.

    Conclusion
The sealant offers a great application method for those looking for a nice spray on wipe on sealant but the smell may push some far back as its very strong. Along with the smell those seeking the slick touch of the paint after a sealant won't find happiness here. More observation are needed for this one to have a true is it worth it!

Just after application the hazing was hard to capture on the white paint

Thanks for the review. Interesting comment about slickness. I wonder if the durability makes up for this.

No problem Al. I hope that is does make up for the non slickness. At first I thought I was me and the sweat that was coming from my hands so when I checked it when the customers came and my hands were dry still the same thing.

    Thanks for the review!

It's not slick? I heard it was slick which is why I regretted going with Sonax Polymer Net Shield and not Tough Coat since I love slick feeling paint and wanted a fairly durable sealant for my truck. Net shield was no fun to apply or remove (sounds like Tough Coat has it beat in this area) and left the paint feeling the same as after polishing. So while it will repel water like it's allergic to it it's not very satisfying to apply, remove or feel (which is nit picking really). I guess my regret of going with PNS over Tough Coat is for nothing if you didn't find it slick.

I was expecting this to be slick but I felt no real difference from polishing to the after application. I can't think of anything that I did that would cause it not to be slick. Now thats not to say that its not going to bead like crazy and sheet off all the water.

I like Adams spray sealant. Easy to apply and remove, great on wheels, and decent shine and durability.

If you want a slick coating, try Wolf's Hard Body. Like you, I love the feel of slick paint. Most coatings are not slick and most sealants will lose their slickness after 30 days. Hard Body is the slickest coating that I have tried. Going on 7 months and going strong. This is on a car that sits outside 24/7.
