    Meguiar's Detailing Cart Quick Review

    Introduction:
    I purchased this from Autogeek.

    Autogeek's Description
Meguiars Detailing Cart is a three level rolling cart designed to put all your detailing supplies within easy reach. Work more efficiently by rolling your supplies with you as you work your way around a vehicle. When you're not detailing, Meguiars Detailing Cart rolls neatly out of the way into a corner of the garage.

Meguiars Detailing Cart is made of engineered thermoplastic resin shelves with an aluminum reinforced top. The cart is completely resistant to acids, solvents, and petroleum-based products. The plastic cart will not mar your paint if it bumps into it. The corners of each shelf are rounded.

    Specs:
    1. Rated Size: 18-in wide x 24-in deep
    2. Top speed: not claimed
    3. Rated Capacity 400 lbs
    4. Manufacturer: Meguairs
    5. Made in USA
    6. Price: $149.99 (can use promotional discounts at AG)
    7. Easy to assemble

    Product Observations:
    1. Packaging: Shipped unassembled
    2. Directions: Single page instruction sheet included
    3. Color: Black
    4. Smell: Plastic

    Measurements
    1. Inside shelf dimensions: 17 3/4 wide x 23 3/4 deep x 2 3/4-in deep
    2. Distance between shelves: 12-in
    3. Clearance on lower shelves: 14 3/4-in
    4. Height: 39 1/2-in
    5. Top speed: not determined
    6. Load: not verified
    7. Color - yes it is black

    Notes:
Autogeek's description mentions an aluminum reinforced top. The shelves are all plastic and it could probably ding a car although not as much as a metal one. There are no screws used in the construction so no screw heads that can snag or ding though. Since it is plastic, there are no metal edges and it cannot rust.

It assembled very easy. A rubber mallet (I used a piece of wood and a regular hammer) helps push the tubes between shelves. The casters just press in and it was fairly easy by hand (no tools needed).

The advantage of this cart is the four swivel casters as opposed to many utility carts that have two fixed direction and two swivel. The cart can quickly moved into a tight spot against a wall without having to lift it. The casters are hard rubber and roll freely. Two caster have locks.

One of my goals to mount halogen or fluorescent lights on the cart.

Excellent Review Al! I could use one of these but not willing to cough up the $. Maybe if I had a bigger driveway... Can't wait to hear what you discover in the top speed department.

$150 seems very pricey for this. The shelves are plastic, meaning there's danger of them cracking if you drop a PC, Flex or rotary on it. Plastic also gets brittle in the cold so those of us in colder climates won't be able to use it in early spring or late fall.

I've been meaning to add one to my collection. A cart like that makes it a whole lot easier and convenient to keep everything you need handy and males cleaning up a snap!!

I like that it's made from that tough plastic so it should withstand temperatures where I live in New England...

I like the Top Speed comment!!

    Thanks Al...

The cart shelves are made with structural foam. Structural foam is known for its toughness and durability so not brittle.

Luxor makes these carts for Megs. You can get an optional spray bottle holder and a three outlet extension, which attaches and wraps around the handle.
