If you upload directly to autogeekonline, you'll be limited on picture dimensions. Other resolution photos are possible if you're using Tapatalk or an image hosting site.

You're far more ambitious than I (building your own backing plate) - I just picked up a cheap "6 inch" HF backing plate for $8. I would like to get a larger one for doing 6.5" pads, but I think ultimately I'm going to make a lexan ring to shield the outer edge of the pad from the velcro (as well as support the larger pads).
Here's my $30 washer:
($12 Handy Pail roller tray, $10 Griot's backing plate to quick connect bit adapter, $8 HF Backing Plate)

I looked originally I looked for a 5/16 X 24 for my Smaller backing plates. And I found these:

I have a couple larger rotaries I don't use.

I'm not wrapping my head around why you need to shield the pad from the Velcro?

If you compress the pad at all for extra cleaning or to help squish the liquid out, you’re pushing the backing plate’s toothed velcro down towards the exposed pad that hangs past the pad’s velcro backing. (5.5” pad with 5” pad velcro).
I’ll try and grab a picture to show what I mean if that doesn’t make sense.
