Speed Master Car Wash Brush (bad experience)
A few weeks I bought the VIP special that contained this brush with telescoping handle, Blackfire car wash and car drying towel. I really wanted to do away with any raised platform when washing my truck. One swipe down my Bpillar looked like I ran sandpaper over it. Now I know they're delicate at best but WOW I did not expect this! This thing is going back to AG first thing Monday.

Kind of bummed about my shiny dash scratched up Bpillar 2018 F150 today :-(

How long did you allow the brush to soak in the car shampoo prior to starting your wash? What kind of soap did you use?

Ouch! I was going to buy one so I could just stand in my truck bed and wash the roof, but didn’t pull the trigger. Now seeing this I’m glad I didn’t buy it. Sorry this happened to you.

Let the brush soak roughly 20 minutes . The bristles are synthetic so I didn’t think that would have much impact . Just put it in the bucket while I did wheels and tires.
For soap I used the blackfire that came with the kit

Wow that brush did a number on your b-pillar. Sorry that it happened to you. Do you have any empty writeble cd or dvd disc? If you would be kind to do a cd test too. Use the kind of pressure you would do when washing and 5-10 strokes back and forth. And then look if or how it scratch the cd. Just would be intresting to know when it caused that kind of damage on the b-pillar.
Is the boarhairs brushes safe to wash with?

Nice idea about testing on a CD. Those piano black pillars scratch with anything so I wouldn’t be surprised if even a CD was harder than them.

I have been using the boars hair brush to wash my midnight blue truck and there have not been any issues. I am sorry that you had an issue with the speed brush. It claims to have synthetic fibers and they seemed to have done a number on your B pillar. On the plus side, you get to polish them out to make them look better than new. I did all the pillars on my Ford Explorer with HD Polish+ and I was pleased with the results.

It's not boars hair. Being a synthetic material I don't think soaking would make much difference. I used the Megs synthetic bristled, flag tipped brush on the face of my wheels and it scratched them. Nothing but boars hair from then on.

The directions for this brush say to soak for 10min. to allow the bristles to soften and become more pliable. It’d be interesting to find out who’s right about this.

This doesn't look right. The long lines don't look like swirls caused by scratching. That looks like staining more than swirls caused by the "cobweb effect" as documented here many times. Not doubting OP but the light source for these photos is not depicting something that looks like damage from the brush.
