Griot's Garage Liquid Gloss Poly Wax Review

as many of you guys know i am a fan of Griot's Garage, and when Jeff Brown told me i MUST get my hands on some Poly Wax i definitely listened, (Jeff is just as passionate and crazy as us forum guys)

Poly Wax was made for some serious durability, it was made not only to compete with the top Synthetic Waxes or Sealants but to beat them (such as, power lock, jet seal, ultimate wax) this wax can last 8 months+ i have had it on my personal car with one coat for 4 months already and still very hydrophobic and beading and sheeting water like crazy! (other people i have spoke to has had on there cars 8 months+)

so lets take a look at it shall we?

Product Info: Poly Wax is all Synthetic, it features Amino Functional Silocone cross linking polymers
(AFS) is a film former that establishes a sacrificial barrier unlike anything a natural wax would deliver)

(24 Hour is the full cure time)

Here is what it looks like when you get your paws on this awesome stuff!

    BOX CONTENTS

Inside the Kit you will get a red foam UFO applicator pad, and a really nice plus 9x9 PFM towel

(this is the highest quality towel offered in a wax kit that you can buy over the counter
(the black towel with the red border is not included)

here is a better look of the towel that is included

Now you can see why they are 9x9 they fit your hand perfectly, making the wax removal smooth and easy.

its time to start the application process!

(I LOVE the domed cap that griots offers on there products it makes it so easy to prime the pad without getting your hands dirty)

after a few dots i massaged it into the applicator making the pads face 100% covered.

i then added some dots to start my panel!

i spread out my wax across the panel to ensure even coverage!

(a little goes a long way with this product)

this was after i massaged it into the paint of my truck.

after i let the wax sit for about 30 mins, it was time to remove.

this is what the finish looked like after i effortlessly wiped off the wax

and this is what i got!

(Please note that this car has not been polished or detailed since 2014, i am the second owner, and the first owner was a regular at the swirl-o-matic, and it seems like these days latley im too busy making everyone elses cars shiny!)

the shine and glow it left behind

I know what your thinking, Ok Joe it made your swirled out truck look nice and glossy, but how is the protection? after i waited 24 hours to cure i sprayed some water just to show you fine folks!

I also did a "Drying" test, i got a 16x16 Plush Jr towel and dragged it across the hood to see how easy the drying process would be after the application

that is what i got! very little water was left after a fully saturated surface, this stuff is the real deal, if anyone knows me they know that i am only a fan of products that work and make my life easy,
and the fact that you can buy it over the counter is even more amazing, (although you should always support autogeek and you will be able to get it on sale)

so thats pretty much it i highly recommend this product, i used it on a black ZR1 this winter, i still maintain, and it is still beading and sheeting water like the day after i applied it!

i applied the product by hand because of the applicator it comes with, i actually prefer applying by machine, its a smoother process, and you actually use less product.

    APPLICATION TIPS: FROM GRIOT'S GARAGE

Dry Time: around 30 mins, (temp and humidity will alter) in cool temps you should wait a little longer.

    Machine Application:
Low speed on a 8mm DA, (2-3) on Griots 6 inch (3-4) on PC (do not apply via boss or long throw orbital)

    Cure Time:
24 Hours (a second coat following 24 hours can improve durability)

definitely add this to your order next time!

    Nice review, Joe!!

Griot's is coming up with some nice stuff. Are they going to phase out their existing sealant? I think it was called "PaintvSealant".

I never tried there "paint sealant" but i am more then sure , this one was made to top it. Just like the boss creams were made to top the griots polish line. I will get more info on it for sure tho.
