A few months ago Nick came to me and says,

"I have this new product for you to test out, it's an all-in-on tire and trim dressing"


I think, ho-hum... just another tire and trim dressing. Then I start using it. And using it. And using it.

This product is freaking awesome!


Why?

Because it cleans, conditions and protects in one step.


While that might not sound like rocket science most trim dressings require you to FIRST clean the trim. Most tire dressings require you to FIRST clean the tires.

Not so with this product. Simply have a few extra microfiber applicators, towels and brushes handy to work, agitate and wipe-off any excess and going from dull and boring to WOW is fast and easy.

Plus since it's an all-in-one product you save money since you don't need any dedicated cleaning products.

How to do cosmetic engine detailing

At our Competition Ready Detailing Classes we teach two types of engine detailing.

Traditional engine detailing - That's where you use an engine degreaser and actually wash out the engine bay using running water.

Cosmetic engine detailing - This is where you simply blow-out the engine compartment with air and then wipe the engine compartment down using a plastic trim dressing.

It's that simple.

Step 1: Blow out the engine compartment to remove any leaves, sticks, pine needles, dead bugs, dust etc.

Step 2: Wipe the plastic and even painted engine components down with a plastic trim dressing.

Optional: For extremely dirty engines wipe the engine compartment down with a all purpose cleaner first. For light dirt use a waterless wash.


I let my class use the new BLACKFIRE All-In-One Trim & Tire Protectant to do cosmetic engine detailing to this 2012 Chevy Traverse.

Same detailing boot camp class, here's a 1932 Ford Phaeton that we used to teach how to use Steam Cleaners to do interior cleaning as well as machine polishing to remove the swirls.

Thanks Mike! The idea for this product came from the fact that I'm a rinseless wash junkie and there's really no easy way to clean your tires while performing this type of wash. When you do clean them while performing a rinseless wash, it's messy and it never quite turns out all that great. This has been an issue that I encounter frequently, and I figured there's no way I'm the only one....so we came out with a product that eliminates that issue altogether! Since most of the vehicles that Mike details are classics and are only given a waterless wash prior to being polished, Mike loved the concept too and here we are today.

The trick is to apply this product with a microfiber or terrycloth applicator. Spray it directly onto the applicator and scrub the tires with a little bit of passion. Not only will it clean the tires, but it will add a nice glossy finish to them as well. Apply using the same technique to engine bays, running boards, etc.

No rinsing or any other cleaners were used on that engine. Mike and I actually demonstrated it live at our Boot Camp in May. We sprayed it directly onto a microfiber towel and "scrubbed" the plastic shrouding in the engine bay.

How long will one application last for? Ballpark figure on a daily driver in California climate. I see the bottle can last 6 months. Is that with a weekly application?

The answer depends on the surface. Engine bays, easily a couple months. Tires, maybe a two weeks give or take.

Frequent car care is easy car care - instead of sitting around observing how long X product will last, apply it frequently and you'll be very pleased at the "just detailed" finish that said product provides. I love the look of freshly dressed tires, so I apply this product frequently.

How is the consistency of this product? How well will it pass the white glove test? Im sure it won't exactly pass the glove test like a tire coating will, but I'm sure it won't leave the glove in a mess after the product has settled in to the tire. Lastly what is the dry/cure time?
