Re: New RUPES Tools + New Pads + New Product!

I am curious about the performance of this the Mille. However, I have to say that due to my proficiency with my mkII 21, I do have the self control of not needing the machine.

Had this been a year ago, may have been a different story.

On the other hand, if I was looking for more machines to have, I don't have self control over brand loyalty.

I can't deny the fact that these machines are just straight sexy looking.

    Lol.

The new Rupes woolpad works better on 15-21 and it outcuts Meguiars mf pads. But yeah it has amazing erconomics and tons of torque, i just need to find good cutting pads for it. Lake country purple woolpad felt good with Mille but it lacks cutting power. I still need to test more but i am little dissapointed so far.

I hope the new rotary kicks ass so i can sell my pe 14-2 and get it. I like Rupes erconomics more than Flex.
What speed did you use the Mille on max?

I used 4-6 for coumpounding but i think speed 6 is bit uncomfortable.

Wow, I'm surprised. I thought the Mille with the new Rupes wool pad would be a beast! Was this the coarse pad you used?

Yes it was the coarse pad. Great pad, hopefully also durable. Im not sure if i keep the Mille or not. Its a big minus that the microfiber pads wont work since foam pads are pretty much useless for heavy compounding.

You did say the coarse pad did not cut that well?

These smaller stroke forced driven polishers are a lot less forgiving as far as pad choice compared to the 3401. I was big on the Mille initially, but I'll just stick to my 3401.

It cuts better than meguiars microfiber cutting pads. It also works better on 15-21mk2 than on Mille.

You're right, you did say that. It would be a bit of a bummer if certain pads you like to use aren't usable. I sold the newest Makita forced driven polisher quickly because of this reason among others. No wonder Rupes came out with very specific pads to use with the Mille.

For what reasons? Vibration? Wobble? Walking?

Makita I can use at speed five and feel perfectly comfortABLE
4.5 on 3401 was bearable but not comfortable

Are you able to post a video by chance?

All the Rupes videos were always in speed 3-3.5...

Man, this has me second guessing "upgrading" my 3401 to the Mille. As stated, its not comfortable, quiet or nearly as "sexy" as the Mille, but it just plain works. And it really doesn't care what kind of pad you put on it.
