Review: GTechniq Quick Detailer by Mike Phillips

Review: GTechniq Quick Detailer by Mike Phillips

    First all the technical stuff...

    From the GTechniq website

QD has been specifically formulated so that you can easily buff away any unsightly water marks, or finger prints, on any of your vehicle’s exterior surfaces left behind after washing.

QD can be sprayed directly onto paintwork, trim or glass and buffed using a clean microfiber towel. It is fully compatible with all Gtechniq coatings and can be layered to boost gloss, slickness and durability.

    Directions for use

    SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE

Spray onto surface and buff with a clean microfiber towel.

    Now for the review...

    What is it?

GTechniq QD is a spray-on detailer for removing,

    1. Light dust
    2. Fingerprints
    3. Smudges

It's will also work to maintain a GTechniq protected finish by restoring and maintaining gloss and slickness as well as extending the longevity of any GTechniq coating.

    Fragrance?
No scent that I can detect.

    Skill level required?
Spray detailers are about as simple and entry level as it gets when it comes to car detailing or exterior maintenance. The most important technique a person needs to master is the art of wiping paint. Modern clearcoats, and even single stage paints for that matter scratch easily. For this reason anytime you TOUCH the paint on your car or a customer's car you need to do

1: Use a clean dry microfiber towel. I recommend inspecting the towels both visually and with your sense of touch before using them to apply and wipe ANY paint care product.

2: Fold your towel 4-ways and then after spraying and spreading out some Gtechniq Quick Detailer to a section of paint with one side of the folded and then flip to a dry side to wipe the paint to a clean dry shine. Then for the next section, fold to an un-used side of the towel and repeat. Using this technique you can wipe 4 sections of paint with one towel. This also means having plenty of clean towels on hand to safely and correctly wipe a car down without the risk of instilling swirls and scratches.

3: Use common sense. If the vehicle looks too dirty to safely use a spray detailer on then use another option like a traditional car wash, rinseless wash or waterless wash.

    Cost?

    Size: 100ml spray bottle

    Synergistic Chemical Compatibility
This is actually a term I coined for the car detailing world over 10 years ago and what it means is there's something to be said to use products all formulated by the same company and in most cases this means the same chemist or same chemists. The reason why is because since these people know how the first step products were make, things like car washes, compounds, polishes, coatings, etc. they know best how to formulate the rest of the line so that everything is chemically compatible.

Now that that's out of the way, here's some pictures showing this product in ACTION!

    Cleaning a 1932 Ford Roadster
This is my buddy Rich's 1932 Ford Roadster that I brought in for another detailing projects. This is a garage kept car and sunny day driver so it's not dirty like a normal daily driver grocery-getter but it is covered with a film of dust and other light contaminants from driving to and from car shows.

Step 1: Mist product onto surface to be cleaned

Step 2: Spread the product out with a clean microfiber towel and then flip to a clean side for the final wipe.

That's about as complicated as you need to make it.

The good news is you can use this product on any hard surface...

    Like the dash...

    The gauges...

The engine cowl or for most of you the hood on your car...

    Your headlights...

The frame and the chrome bumper or for most of you the painted bumper caps on the front of your car...

Even the grill - this works best by dampening a clean microfiber towel and then using the towel to clean the grill.

I present.... GTechniq QD or QUICK DETAILER!

    Final thoughts...
