Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher for Wetsanding Class
Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher for Wetsanding Class
This is hands down one of my favorite tools for wetsanding. It's small, lightweight and compact in size.
MOST IMPORTANT is that it's EASY TO CONTROL
This mean you can machine wetsand close to body lines or edges, or get into tight areas without making mistakes. Anyone that's ever hand saned or machine sanded knows how important this is when working on someone else's baby.
While a full size sander with a 6" disc is great for large flat panels this baby can't be beat when it comes to everything else. In fact, if I had to choose just one electric sander to sand down an entire car I would choose the 3" Griot's Mini Polisher over a full size air or electric sander just because of the versatility factor. Of course it would take longer over all but you just can't beat the ease of control when it comes to precision sanding.
We use this handy dandy little tool for all the wetsanding projects in my detailing classes and I also teach a class on precision sanding at Mobile Tech Expo.

This is a 3" Meguiar's Unigrit Disc on a Meguiar's Interface pad on the factory Griot's 3" Backing Plate. You can get these discs in a grit range from #320 to #3000. The lower grits are great for machine wetsanding headlights. You can also get 3M Trizact sanding discs in 3".

It's also great for machine waxing cars and anyone that reads my write-ups for all the projects cars we buff out here at Autogeek knows I'm a machine guy and I do all my waxing by machine.

1987 Monte Carlo Extreme Makeover with Rupes and Blackfire BlackICE
The air compressor was turned off for the night by day shift so we simply switched over to the Griot's 3" mini polishers with 4" Rupes white foam finishing pads to machine apply the Blackfire BlackICE Montan Hybrid Wax. Anyone that's ever worked with me knows I do everything by machine unless it's just not practical or impossible.

Good for you.
I don't know how any body shop doesn't own a Griot's Mini Polisher for machine sanding with 3" discs.
It's just to easy and to handy.

Re: Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher for Wetsanding Class
Mike, after your class, I bought one of these plus the sanding discs we used in that class. The best combo for headlights and sanding after touching up a very chipped up hood
Re: Griot's Garage 3" Mini Polisher for Wetsanding Class
I didn't take his class, but from one of Mike's threads, I bought one too, for use with 3" sanding discs. It's been great.
Once BOSS line came out, I think it helped make the Peanut even more capable with the 3" BOSS pads and their Creams.
