Re: What happened to Autopia forums?
They temporarily broke the forum so that google couldn't scrape their site for virus warnings while they try and clean it all up.

Re: What happened to Autopia forums?

Re: What happened to Autopia forums?
It's the ebb and flow of the internet. Forums come and go like the wind. In 12 years on detailing forums I have seen so many come and go....People will just move onto other places...

Re: What happened to Autopia forums?

Don't need to, but on a serious note if you knew the truth about what I think you are talking about you would have a whole different view. So we will leave it at that Ryan.

+1 There were some great craftsman. How do we get them over here? Scottwax, they guy from Hungary who did all the Sick Ferrari's? Not sure who more pro's don't post their work here?
Autopia really had alot of before and after and in process pictures and steps that have helped me get better and also decide to try some products.

Why do we need them when we have Mike Phillips?

Because this forum is run by a vendor, and there are some folks who don't want to be seen as supporting the vendor for whatever reason. I know Autopia was a vendor too, at least at one time, but it was a forum long before that.
Personally, I'd rather just go wherever the best information resources are. Hence why I visit this site. Im the MAN

Sadly, I very much agree with both points.
I am still hoping for some type of big time turn around. I am probably being far too optimistic though.
Man, talk about crash and burn...

Exactly right.
I know some people are concerned about posting solely on a detailing forum that is run/controlled by a vendor for obvious reasons.
But...as stated, Autopia became a vendor itself. And yes, it did cause some issues (though I thought it was handled pretty well overall).

Al, good to see you here. I guess I get their reasoning but they we such a great source of hands on info. They had done so many cars they actually were able to give combo's of polish and pads for each make and model. I got many Pm's over the years from them with pointed specific information.

Re: What happened to Autopia forums?
Autopia's loss is a lot of other forums' gain.
-
Re: What happened to Autopia forums?
It appears that the Google bots last visited Autopia two days ago. The site could well be repaired, but I for one ain't going anywhere near it until Google gives it a clean bill of health, and I say this as one who plays on an iMac. OS X may not be as vulnerable to viruses and malware as Windows, but I'm not going to jump off the pinnacle of the Temple trusting that God will rescue me.
It's a shame about Autopia. The new owners have mishandled this property and puts its future in jeopardy.

Autopia, new owners? What happened to DavidB

Yeah, what did happen to David B?
I am old and confused at this point.
3D, HD, new owners, sponsors, etc.
What do all those things mean?
-
Re: What happened to Autopia forums?
LoweJackson! What happened to DavidB...well, if you remember, first he separated himself and Autopia.org from the -CarCare part of it. Then he apparently sold it in early 2009 to the company he was launching a new product line for, but didn't tell anyone, including the mods, although he continued to manage the forum for the remainder of last year and then just disappeared. You can find him at his personal website.
