What to do with the 2 pads in my new PC

Well, suffice it to say that I don't know where to start. The PC came in yesterday with two of the thick white foam-y pads (I don't even know why I bought 2), and one lambswool pad.

Is there a reason to keep two foam pads on hand, one for polish, another for wax, perhaps? Or one for application, the second for buffing?

The lambswool pad is the big mystery. It has a rubbery base but is not a bonnet, so I don't know how to even attach it. The black, rubbery side appears to adhere well to the foam pad, so may you just stick it on there like a sticky note (?) There is no mechanical element so you certainly don't screw it in. I have a bad feeling I am supposed to have a bonnet to put over the lambswool and that the bonnet will keep it attached, but I didn't even see a bonnet as a suggested purchase.

Thanks a lot for your help,
    Rob in Plano, TX

Yow, you don't want to use that stuff.

Start by looking at this: Buffing Pads and Accessories

Thanks, Setec. Wish you had responded quicker. I just "buffed" my 2010 Mustang GT down to bare metal!

Naw, I'm kidding, and I really appreciate your guidance. I haven't even plugged it in and I knew I was missing something. Should have bought a package from here but they all included products I already had, so I went to Home Depot instead because it's down the street.

I guess there is still a package I can get from Autogeek that will fill the gaps. Will let you know what happens. Thanks again.

Search for "The white foam pad that comes with a Porter Cable Polisher". Mike addresses your question in that thread.

I used the white pad for the shower a couple days ago. It's similar to a general purpose white polishing pad from LC, or B&S.

My girl was complaining about the soap residue build up in the shower.

I used some Duragloss 501 on it, and it looks pretty good.
