    Re: Meguiars MT300

Forced rotation from my understanding means that the backing plate is directly connected to the drive mechanisms and spins in direct relation to motor speed. It is forced by the motor speed, therefore it will never stop rotating. The only forced rotation dual action polisher that I am aware of is the Flex 3401.

All other dual action polishers have some sort of a free floating spindle design. This means that under pressure, the spinning will slow, or stop. This is what makes DA's so safe to use for most people. The spinning of the pad is not directly related to motor speed.

I think I got it there

well short answer is, you can't stop the rotation no matter how hard you press.

I kinda think of it as hybrid unit of DA and Rotary polisher.

when you have Griot's with a lifetime warranty and the PCXP with a 3(?)year warranty, they should set the MT300 warranty around 2 years at the least (gives the buyer a little more security) especially given the price is a little higher too. the most casual user may only use it 3-4x a year...
    i am the jump starter.

Also i hear metal shaking noise when i turn it off and vibration is increased noticeably.

already talked to Palm Beach and sending it back for inspection/ exchange.

but I am not sure if I should get another MT300 or just invest little more maybe get FLEX 3401 or Rupes....

this was my first DA polisher after using cheap chicago rotary buffer..... which makes me little worried about this product.

anyone else having issue with this unit??
No point in spending 210 dollars your half way there fork up the extra cash and get the flex, rupes , or boss ,you won't be sorry

The flex is dual action as well like any da but its forced rotation meaning it has a gear drive that causes the orbit.

    Its not free spindle.

In example if you get a porter cable and spin it. You can spin it left or right and it spins like a wheel.

The flex has a gear that drives that its not free spindle so on concave areas or curves the machine won't stop rotating ever.
