    Compond for PC

I am looking for advice on a good compound for the porter cable. I use a Dewalt rotary for most of my compounding, but I did a Volvo SUV last week that I had a tough time with. Lots of small areas with bends and curves and spots I couldn't get too with the Dewalt, no matter what size backer I used. I called a buddy of mine who details for a living and he told me to get a more chemical compound that works more with heat rather than abrasives, and works well with DA machines. This was all news to me. He also told me to ditch the PC and get a Rules for DA work, which I can't afford to do right now.

I was using Malco rapid cut compound with the rotary and he recommended Malco Mag 1 in Malco line of products for compounding with a DA. I am not stuck using Malco or anything, But I like their products and the price. But I thought I would post here and see what the pros think about my situation and my buddys advice. Are some compounds more of a chemical base where the heat of the action actually fixes the pain instead of abrasives, or at least less abrasives.

A short list of the best 3 would be great. I am pretty happy with my results on flat panels with the Malco rapid cut and buff lite polish and I want to try Meguiars M105 and M205 but I fear they will just be a carbon copy of what I have now.

    Thanks

Wouldn't hurt to try the Meguiar's products.

Definitely don't want heat on the paint. Modern abrasives need pressure over the buffing cycle to break down. The Meguiar's products contain a special abrasive that doesn't really break down, but it does have a definite work time.

If you using the Porter Cable 7424xp, you could even give Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish a try.

What pads do you have avaliable?

Also, I really REALLY like FG400 compound, and SF4000 polish from Menzerna.
