I've found that the PC can stop spinning pads when you bear down for cutting. That's much less likely to happen with the GG6.
Totally agree!!! If you're just starting out and are only going to have one machine I don't understand why anyone would not choose the Griot's polisher. With the right pad and product there isn't anything it can't handle without worrying about it bogging down and if anything goes wrong with the GG6 in most cases Griots will just replace it with a new polisher rather than repair it.

While the Griot's can handle 6" pads it's more effective with 5.5" pads so in either case you'll need to purchase a 5" backing plate.

And yes the GG6 is just as safe as the PC.

Later if you find you really enjoy machine polishing and want to get another machine like a Flex or Rupes the GG DA won't go to waste as you can set it up with 3" or 4" pads to do the tight spots, or a brush for cleaning carpets or tires etc, etc

Between the PC or GG I would go with the GG. If you can spend the money get the flex 3401.

Going to buck the trend and go with the Cyclo. Probably the most underrated polisher. They don't market so much but man is it smooth. It will outlast all the others and from someone whose been doing this for a long time now with the pic, the flex, the rotary, I pick up my Cyclo more than any other tool.

I had two of the Megs machines go bad, these were the G110v2. The first one after 1 1/2 cars. The second one I didn't use very often because I also had a PC. I recently had the same problem with that one. I would say it may have done the equivalent of four cars. This was after they supposedly had the problem fixed.

I think he's talking about the new Megs DA that just came out. It has very good initial reviews, but nothing long term and it's expensive compared to a GG DA.

Another vote for the Griot's Garage DA. Affordable, versatile, user-friendly, and lifetime warranty.

I went with the 5" backing plate for Lake County's 5.5" orange and white pads for polishing and correcting. My GG came with some 6.5" black pads so I swap back to the 6" backing plate for those when adding my sealant or wax. I'm considering getting a 3" backing plate as well for tighter spots.

Granted, I've only owned an older Griot's machine, but I also have a Rupes Duetto, and a Flex 3401 in the arsenal. Even then I reach for the PC first.
@dlc95, are you using the flex for correction too?
