Help me make the RIGHT decision!?!?!
Hiya folks…. so i'm currently looking into purchasing a new PC 7424xp from AG here, only i'm unsure which kit to actually get for my needs.
First and foremost, this machine will only be used as a hobby and to detail my Mom's, Wife's, and My own vehicles.
My car is a 2013 Rav4, My Wife's has a Versa, and my Mom has a new Prius.
Since the day my mom and I got our new cars, we have not taken them to any car wash at all. Only the two bucket method here.
I have washed, clayed, and waxed my Rav4 a couple time now by hand and it is really getting old quick. lol
I know I can do a much better & thorough job using a PC 7424xp given the chance.
So i've been shopping around for about a week now while all the while, diligently reading up on all I can about the PC 7424xp and all the different foam pads and whatnot.
The corrections I'd like to make are a couple of small chicken type scratches and one fresh one that was given to me by someone who was in a hurry to leave a grocery store parking lot….grrrrrr.
I posted pics below……
Other then that, I'd like to remove any swirls and any other defects in my paint and to protect it from any possible damage and the extreme UV rays we have down here in Southern, AZ.
I know how important it is to keep foam pads clean so i'd like to include that into my kit as well.
Also, I recently read from Mr. Phillips, that the thinner pads are better to use for the PC 7424xp????
Not sure if these are the right pads or not but this is the Kit I was thinking of getting along with an extra 6 pack of foam pads.

The Griot's has a lifetime warranty.
Also right now AG's sister site is having a sale on polishers/kits with free shipping! I PM'ed you the link to the sale.

Yes they are in the same class. Also, if you ask nicely AG will replace the 6.5 pads with 5.5...shhhh. You will also need more MF towels. But everything you listed looks good.

Re: Help me make the RIGHT decision!?!?!
Oh wow…. I didn't even notice that those were 6.5" foam pads in that kit… good eye.
I'll be sure to ask them about switching those out…
So how often do you think I'll use the 3.5" backing plate if ever?
Or should I just stick to the 5.5" pads and 5" backing plate?
The answer to this question will determine whether I should get this kit or not.
Thanks again for the advice….

and fwiw, I've got quite a few Gold Plush jr and arctic white MF towels as well as WW MF for drying.
Also got a leaf blower that I ONLY use for drying my vehicle.

Re: Help me make the RIGHT decision!?!?!
I'd agree with going to the GG6" and as a first timer I would either go to ultimate compound instead of 105 or Menzerna FG400. 105 is known to not be super user friendly.
The 3.5" plate is not a necessity. But is useful for tight areas.
P.S. AG will gladly match the above mentioned sale.
It's all in the details

Re: Help me make the RIGHT decision!?!?!
Will the 5.5" foam pads fit on the gg6" ???

You need the 5" bp just like you do with the pc7424xp.
It's all in the details

ahhhhhhhhh ok, so i just switch out the 6" plate that comes with it with a 5" plate that I have to order separately.
It all makes sense now….hahaaa

I guess now I gotta go search which pads are best for the gg6…lmao.
so many decisions…. but glad I have you guys to help me narrow it down.
thanks again.
