    PC Lacking Power

    Hey Geeks,

Having a bit of trouble with my PC, I want to say its about a year old, I have not done many corrections with it, maybe about 3 or 4, but nothing crazy. I feel as if the only setting I can use it on is speed 6. On speed 5 its like a crazy jump from super fast to kind of fast, but even if I put a bit of pressure on it, it just oscialltes. I dont know if that is suppose to happen, becuase Ive seen numerous demsontrations of the PC and people can really put the pressure on it and it still rotate. Hoping yall could help me out, it does get really hot as well.

    Thanks!

What size backing plate and pads are you using?

Are you properly priming the pad?

Priming pad, 5" backing plate, pad size 5.5-6" pads.

If you don't want to spend too much dough, it's time to step up to a Griot's.

If your using an extension cord make sure it's the right gauge. This has been a problem for a lot of people. There is another electrical problem with some machines. Seems like it's the adjuster. If this is the problem there are "how to" repair threads on here. Sorry I can't find it right now but I'm sure you can locate it with some searching.

I don't think anyone uses less than speed 6 with larger pads. You can get away with 4 or 5 while using 4" pads. It's the nature of the beast. Do you feel that it has lost power since your previous "3 or 4 corrections"?

I do! But it may be the extension cord! Thanks guys!! I'll try that and see if it is the problem.

Also, check to make sure the washer for the backing plate did not fall out. If you aren't using the washer there won't be enough clearance for the backing plate and it will cause the machine to have trouble maintaining rotation even with no pressure.
