    A future 7424XP

Thinking out loud, I wonder if a next generation 7424xp is on the drawing board.

I think with the new rupes offerings, someone like griot's is going to go back to the drawing board. I can see them discontinue the GG6 and offer the same DA but with the 12mm larger throw or perhaps come out with one of the Chinese rupes knock-offs. time will tell...

I doubt it, that's such a small part of all of Porter Cable's business.

Not at all. If something isn't broke, dont fix it.

PC sales have not dropped at all since the big boy DA's (Flex, Rupes, etc) came on the market. (I know this as I am on the selling side of Detailing)

Biggest reason is price. Base rupes is $300+ (for the Duetto), the PC is half that ($150 here, some places more some less). The PC market is strictly the beginner/novice. Someone buying their first polisher will not go for the Rupes or Flex. The PC even out sells the GG6. Its a great machine!

Very true it was my first machine then came the flex I feel at least for me I need both. The new rupes looks promising but at a big price tag..

A few years ago I believe Mike Phillips mentioned PC was simply not willing to implement some suggestions sent their way to improve their DA; read it here in the forum I believe.

I actually like the old PorterCable 7424 better then the 7424XP.
