    PC problems

I own a Porter Cable DA with a Mequirs backing plate. Using 6" Hybrid pads. After using it for a minute or two the backing plate becomes loose from the PC almost like it is spinning in reverse. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong.

    Thanks

Notice that Lake County sells a compression washer to go between the backing plate and the PC. I do not have a washer between the two with current setup. Could this be causing my problem?

    Thanks

    To Autogeek Online!

It's possible that this could result and it is a good idea to use this washer. Here's some information on it by Mike Phillips.....

    The Compression Washer

Don't use your polisher without it!

    In a word...yes.

You can take a run to your local hardware store, head for the plumbing isle, find a fiber washer that's about an 1/8" thick and about 1/2" diameter. Probably run ya about 50 cents or so.

That &^%* washer is a must!

Good luck and welcome to AGO!

    Re: PC problems

yep, if I remember correctly that washer has to be in there. I vaguely remember having a difficult time removing my backing plate once after forgetting to put the washer in. It makes fitting the wrench between the backing plate and polisher very difficult. I don't know how I tightened the pad on so far, without the washer, in the first place. oh well

I actually use two washers. One comes with the PC and the one supplied with the LC backing plates.
