This is true , the counter weight only needs to be changed if the DA is used for sanding.

I thought I lost my PC in my move so I purchased the HF polisher. To me the HF seemed a little more powerful than the PC but guess what I found, my PC. Now I will buy a 5 inch backing plate and 5.5 pads for the HF polisher. Next the flex.
today I was buffing with the foam pad, and the felt partially ripped off the foam. When I went to rip the foam pad off, the felt was pretty hot. The foam part was not hot though.
Is this common with foam pads? heat transfer to the hook and loop mechanism?
I'm wondering if I should get 7" foam pad, or cut the backing plate down to 5". Which would be better?
Wow 37 pages of reading does make you dizzy I have -0 experience with detailing so HF probly my entry level step for DA use. I read one good point here that GG have lifetime warranty where as HF you can get a 2yr warranty. I live 15 mins away from the nearest HF store so if it breaks thats 15 mins going back for a replacement. If GG breaks its packaging + shipping cost. For $54.99 - 20% vs. $139 i think its a good deal for someone like me just starting to learn detailing.
I just called HF and have them put 1 on hold for pick up.
Have a nice weekend peeps!
