Re: Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New
Thank you AG for leaving this thread up. I was brought here because of this thread - it is mentioned in the reviews on the HF product page. Now I'm spending a couple hundred bucks with AG this weekend...
BTW people - all the questions about what grease to use...
BUY YOUR GREASE WHILE YOU'RE AT HF. Do it!
They have the same "14 Oz. Sta-Plex Extreme Pressure Premium Red Grease" rated to 500 degrees. If you don't like the cartridge tube, you'll have to buy the tub from Oreillys for more money. Save a trip & buy it from HF for 5 bux.
FYI - the black tube is only rated to 300 degrees. Get the red.

^^^You mean when will HF put them on sale?
I bought mine last night. Go to Google. Type: Harbor Freight promo codes. Print yourself a coupon for 25% off any single item. $60 - 25% = $45. Heck, if you're a member of their club, they're on sale for $55.

Re: Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New
Sorry if I wasnt specific, but Im looking to purchase a da polisher. I read and heard the harbor freight polisher is good. 6 in. Variable Speed Dual Action Polisher this is the one Im looking at. But want to know if its better than the pc 7424 xp or just simply avoid headaches in the future and just buy the pc 7424. Im trying to save some $$ to purchase more products from ag of course!

Re: Harbor Freight DA Polisher - New
It has more power than the XP, but like the XP you need to purchase a quality 5" backing plate so you can use 5.5" pads. The backing plate that comes with the HF is of poor quality IMO and is a 6" unit.
If you're not going to get the HF then I'd move to the Griot's Garage 6" polisher--they are available on special on another website for $99.97 including shipping until 12/2/13. The GG has much more power than the PC and the HF and comes with a lifetime warranty.
If you read through this thread and threads on other detailing forums you'll see there are quite a few weekend detailers happy with the HF unit and a few pros who use the HF day in and day out with no complaints.
