Re: Griot's 3 inch, or small plate and pads?

I recently used the new Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit to sand down a pair of wasted headlights.

First I tried their system by hand for the 'experience", then I set the hand sanding block aside and simply put their 3" Unigrit Sanding Disc on the 3" Griot's Mini Polisher and let the polisher do all the work...

It's definitely on my wish list. I've found plenty of reasons have one since I got my 6 inch Griot's.

    Mike,

I'm interested in more info on Dampsanding technique. For lube, are you just using water in a spray bottle? What speed setting on polisher? Just a 1000 to 3000 grit two step?

    Thanks,
    Joe

I recently purchased one, and was able to use it just the other day. IMO, it's a great machine. It felt like the tool you don't want to buy, but during certian applications you are glad you did.

While completing a Motorcycle detail, it quickly became the only tool I was holding for most of the correction.

Just water for a lube by Meguiar's recommendation not to use a lube in the water as that's taken care of in the design of the medium that is used to hold or embody the abrasives on the face of the disc.

I have a very detailed article on dampsanding here,

Yeah but who pays for shipping both ways for failures while under their lifetime warranty?

I'd like a 3" polisher, but I want one that will be around in ten years like the rest of my shop equipment.
