I to bought the same kit, but I had no problems correcting the paint on my car with the 6.5 inch pads and 5" backing plate. As long as I don't oversaturate the pads, the 7424xp has no problems keeping the pads rotating. I found for the roof, hood and trunk, the 6.5 pads work fine, but prefer the additional firmness and control of the 5.5 pads for the sides of the car.

Didn't know there was a different size counterweight depending on the bp you are using. If I am using a 5in bp with the Griots, should I get a different counterweight?
As soon as I got my GG, I swapped out the bp's and slapped on 5.5 inch pads but I don't know how much vibration is considered normal...
