Souveran ok on super fresh paint?
I just painted my fiberglass bumper since it chips horribly. Cousin got it better than new now... Black Nissan paint.
I know you generally wait 1-3 months to protect the paint so it cures...
Do you think I am ok with Souveran? I also have crystal mist spray.
I am taking the fresh paint on a trip to VA, 5 hours each way this week
I plan to use 3M green tape to protect it, unless someone thinks that is bad on new paint for 1 day...
any advice is greatly appreciated. I will make an effort to not tail-gates

I wouldn't mess with the bumper. Let the paint cure, espeacially on fiberglass. You'll have issues later, like bonding isssues. One scrape or gash, and it will pull back and shrink right up.

3m tape is the best way to protect it. If not, your going to subject teh new paint to all kinds of things hitting the front end. For non long range distances, I believe Meguiars #5 is made especially for new paint. Send a pm to mike to find out.

thanks, i'll just go green bumper for the trip and try my best to keep a good distance for now on in traffic.
i just stumbled upon someone suggesting Souveran since it doesn't have cleaners. I might look into the Megs.
LOL I might bring my CoverCraft Noah to work to keep her clean
Now what do I do with all these bottles of NXT wax and quick detailers since I am stocked with Souv and Crystal??? Guess I might be nice and use it on others' cars, or maybe use it in the winter still?

Depending on the winter, probably better to use a stronger wax on the car. For me its the other way around. I cannot wait until winter. WInter in florida = nuba heaven.

First off. Where did he paint the bumper? In his garage or in a shop where it was baked? If the paint was baked in a booth you can do whatever you want to it. Which is why you can wet sand, buff, etc on a fresh paint job. As long as it was properly prepped and baked you will have no issues.

Also as far as putting tape on your bumper... The Idea behind not putting wax or sealant on a fresh paint job is to allow the "gas" to escape. Won't the tape kinda act like a wax and not allow gas to escape? Even only for one day it seems worse. Ever thought of a clear bra? My buddy had one on his s10 after he had it painted and it beat the hell out of re painting every few months. Just a thought. Good luck

I have had my targa replaced/repainted several times. I immediately coat with Souveran paste for next 60 days without issue. I stay away from sealants (outgassing is possible) and harsh cleaners and polishes. Worked well everytime...

Re: Souveran ok on super fresh paint?
it's a custom fiberglass so a clear bra is not available. I don't want to custom cut one either. His prep is flawless, but I believed he used the sun to "bake".
I am thinking that risking 1 day of not out gassing is worth the 9 hours of possible chips on the new paint.
